A girl I knew with a clown obsession had me get down with her while watching the first Terrifier movie. It was the only time I’ve ever actually felt unsafe with a woman. I thought I was going to be Gone-Girl’d for sure. I’m surprised I made it through it honestly.
Luckily our fun was done before we got to part in the movie with the upside down girl. I had to stop it there. Who comes up with this stuff and why people want to watch it is completely beyond me.

I saw Terrifier 2 at the Globe 2 years ago and it was sold out.
Saw Terrifer 3 at Chinook at the 4:25 showing, still a decent crowd for Thanksgiving Monday.
Its entertaining, you know what to expect, there are comedic moments that get the crowd laughing.
The Banshees of Inisherin: Beautiful cinematography and great acting while having a lot to say about male friendship and loneliness. Was a bit dull and slow paced at times and the story felt weird being an Irish Civil War allegory instead of having a traditional structure. No idea why this is marketed as a comedy when there are only a few mild chuckles in an otherwise depressing film that leaves you feeling hollow. 8/10
Civil War: Really enjoyed this one. Had an interesting concept and a lot to say about the horrors of war and the role of media. Was well paced with lots of tension and some solid action set pieces. Could have used a bit more world building and the ending was predictable. 9/10
Monkey Man: Dev Patel trying to be Indian John Wick. There is a lot of stylish action but otherwise is a bit of a mess. Biggest problem is the protagonist who I thought was going to be very smart and ambitious but was was kind of a unlikable idiot. Relied on a lot of flashbacks for the background and motivation but these hurt the pacing and could have been covered in one scene or with exposition. There was also a spiritual element that had the potential to be interesting but didn’t really add much to the movie. Give this a pass. 4/10

Saturday Night was great. Performances were all around awesome. Music was fabulous. It all really drove home the anxiety of the lead up of that first show and I think really captured what makes Lorne so special is appearing (not actually BEING) calm even though everything is falling apart. A few very small bumps where they basically had a character recount the past that seemed kinda forced unnecessary exposition, but overall, especially as an SNL fan, just super well done.
Dylan O'Brien as Aykroyd was spot on. So good.
I'm not sure why Nicholas Braun is both Kaufman and Henson. He's great with both, but was there like a weird rumour that Kaufman was Henson or something? Otherwise I don't really understand the choice but neither character is in it enough for it to REALLY click.

I just don't see it.
Had some great scenes, the snipers being one, and the bass grave, but there were a tonne of holes.
And the ending........the ending was straight up lazy dog####.

I watched Wes Craven's New Nightmare this weekend. It's an interesting spin on the Freddy movies with the cast and crew of the original playing themselves, but I didn't like the new makeup. He looked like the Hobgoblin.
I wish they made more use of Robert Englund. You find out he's haunted by Freddy too but then you never see him again. Why would they not shoot a fight scene between them? It would have been epic.
Haven't seen that one but saw the Wishmaster recently. Was really good but the sequel wasn't (but was no longer produced by Wes Craven either)

I'm not going to argue with you about the ending. That was telegraphed 20 minutes into the movie and I felt it didn't fit the tone.
As for "holes", I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to, but in taking a guess I'll just say that a lot of it was purposely left ambiguous. The sniper scene itself kind of tries to drive that home.
You can build bits and pieces of the world and backstory as the characters chat, but there's no way to fully nail down which side is which.
Then again, there's a reason MAGA went bonkers over the film thinking they were the bad guys.

I really don't care for movies about serial killers and almost begrudgingly started this, after 20 mins I was very glad I did. Unique take on the genre, shot very well (by Giovanni Ribisi) and the 2 leads are incredible.

Yeah I enjoyed the movie for the most part but I think this is something that could have been put into a TV series with more lead up to the Civil War and a more in-depth look.
Watched Alien:Romulus this week and it was pretty good, I would rank it in the middle of the Alien series.

The casting was unbelievably good, I wasn't familiar with any of these young actors but they nailed it. All around the board, every single actor playing the original SNL cast was astounding. I'm sure the tension leading up the airtime was played up for dramatic effect but it was fun if you just go with it. Oh, Phillip Seymour Hoffman's kid plays Dick Ebersol, an early supporter of Lorne Micheals and future vice president and president at NBC. I should have known it would be good with Jason Reitman directing, might be the best thing he's done so far.

I think what the movie does so well is a reminder of what a magic trick SNL actually is, even if it's not great all the time. The fact that it shows up at all is kind of a miracle mashup of crazy talented people in front of and behind the camera. And how something so recognizable as an institution was once just a bunch of kids who didn't know better.
Best scene for me was Michaels visiting the Milton Burl set and seeing the producer that you know just hates himself and deciding he won't be that.
