Really? So you are saying that somebody close to you dies as a result of killing himself after killing loved ones and you would be saying "Geez, I'm glad he is gone." No. You'd still be just as sad and probably a bit more devastated and confused.

Its kind of shocking, especially if its a murder suicide, I'm hoping its not, but its looking more and more like it as time goes on.
Its always hard to imagine somebody who's rich and famous and successful fighting demons, but it happens all the time.
Its terrible that his wife and child were involved in this, but lets not be so quick to condemn somebody for something that we can't understand or have not experienced.
If it was to do with steroid abuse, I've known people that have gone through it, and the changes in your moods are incredibly scary even with limited use.
If it was some other drug, I don't think we can understand the effects. If it was depression, again its hard its hard to know what happened.
We don't even know what the situation is beyond the horrible words murder suicide. All that we know is that Benoit left the PPV last night due to a family emergency, beyond that its all speculation. So to condemn the tribute show because you've already condemned him as a murderer is wrong in my mind.
Let the investigation continue, and make your judgements then.
all that we know is a family has been wiped out. And thats the tragedy of this piece.

I don't even want to think about what that might mean. I just got chills down my spine. The kid? The wife?

Pretty much. If my brother killed his wife and kid and then himself, I would not be saying what a great guy he was. I would be saying something more along the lines of "how did that son of a _____ fool me for 23 years" and I would say he was a coward and a piece of ____.
Benoit could have been the nicest guy in the world to everybody else that he ever encountered, but the second you lay your hands on your wife and YOUR KID, you are a pile of garbage and deserve the worst fate a person can have.
You disagree?
(edit: just want to add that my comments about this are hypothetical, as in if that is what happened) I hae just edited my other post to reflect this. Sorry.

The best thing the WWE can do at this point is wash their hands of it. They took the high road. Time to move on.
They probably wont... but it'd be the right thing to do.

I think it's IMPOSSIBLE to know how you would react if you were in a family that had something like this happen. It would be so tragic, I'm not sure how I would feel at all. The overwhelming sense of loss and grief would be enormous.

I completely disagree with you. One moment does not define how you were for the rest of your life. I am not condoning murder suicide in any way, I am speaking out against people who make up their minds about something/somebody when they don't have any facts.

I heard that it's being reported that he killed them over the course of a few days, between calling in to report he wasn't going to be at the weekend shows.

Usually one moment doesnt, for example if I was at a bar with you and you ordered a Canadian, I would think that was a bad call, and I'd order something different. It wouldn't change my opinion of you though. But in some cases, one moment does define you. If half way through the Canadian you told you you had killed your wife and your son, well, that would have a grand effect on my appreciation of you and the value I place on your life. Betraying your kid is the ultimate failure as a person.

well on wwe.com it says that "WAGA, a FOX-owned and operated television station in Atlanta, reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and 7-year-old son over the weekend, then himself on Monday." also it if offical that there was a murder-suicide of some sort. "The press conference officially ruled authorities’ findings as a double murder-suicide from within the home" Also I heard that Benoit called wwe and told them he could not be there on saturday or sunday because "both his wife and son were throwing up blood and he needed to stay to take care of them."

For some reason, the quote from Benoit in Kipper3256's post hit me really hard. It just sickened me.
Of course right now it is hearsay.

I'm not ready to indict Benoit yet. There are a number of scenarios that could have happened.

You are right, we don't know all the details, but homocide cops usually don't have to go far to connect the dots. Perhaps there might be some unknown detail that comes to light. Maybe the kid had some inoperable cancer and Benoit and his wife agreed to some bizarre suicide pact. Or maybe he just took the coward's way out.

Time of deaths will be interesting. Saturday morning to Monday night is a long, long time. In my first year of university when I was living in res, a guy hung himself in his room (nobody knew) and there was an odour after about 2 days. After about 4, it was very very strong (which is when his room was checked).
