I do mine myself, but some people don't want to. It's a bit of a PITA, requires some tools and can be hard on the back as you get older.

I think there's some options that come to your house to do it if it's a situation like yours. I think it's like $25-40 a tire. 
 
For instance, if you have an AMA membership:

$120 to do 4 tires if you're AMA basic, $98 if you're AMA plus. 
 
I think it's around the same if not a little cheaper to do at a shop (as low as $20 per tire), but then the issue is often appointment availability vs cost.

18-19" are pretty close to my limits right now. 20"+ probably feels like lifting an Atlas stone in a strongman competition.

Kind of true, but unless you’re storing your tires at the place you get them swapped at, you go through the same hassle, possibly worse.   
 
Everyone has the tools already in their cars, except the torque wrench, which isn’t that expensive.

It never even occurred to me to use the weird little jack and tire iron in the trunk, but you're totally right. I over complicate things and have my breaker bar, impact driver, floor jack, etc. etc.

			I did mine as well today for the same reason as a few weeks early is no biggy on wear. It’s getting cold at night and my summers are true summer so even a dusting and I’m a drift suv.

I am usually sitting on my butt, criss-cross style.  Once I get the holes oriented, I lift the tire up with my legs and use my hands to push the the tire onto the lugs. 
 
No I don’t have super strong legs, the vehicle is just barely off the ground.
 
One anti-tip: I thought I’d be smart and efficient and loosen all of the nuts at once before jacking the car.  This was not smart.  Do not do this.

I thought loosening the nuts just enough to break their resistance was SOP? Especially, if some of your nuts are really stuck.

			KalTire apparently has no record of me dropping off my rims for new tires.  They're "checking"...
 Costco ordered the wrong tires for my wife's vehicle.. She says they went out and looked at it and STILL ordered 18" instead of 19".
 
 I guess even if it snows it probably won't stick right away...  hopefully...

When I say loosen, I mean more like removed them all, on all the tires.  It wasn’t my proudest moment when I went around to the other side of the car and the tires were all askew.

I sit my ass on a milk cart in front of a tire, put my toes under the tire and lift up on my heels to raise the wheel the 1 or 2 inches it needs, while rotating with my hands to line up the lug holes.

Rotate the tire so one wheel stud is at 12 o'clock. Lift the tire up so it sits on all of the studs, then screw one lug nut on the top stud so the tire is held on the hub. Screw the bottom lug nut onto the bottom stud then do the rest.
