The Oilers are the most overrated team in the league by a country mile. Likely will see adding veteran dman such as Shattenkirk, and we will see Coach Q as an “advisor” before end of November.

After the season opening 6-0 loss, assume that the Oilers would kick the Hawks a$$ in their season opener.

Then when the Hawks beat them 5-2, I assumed they would extract revenge against the Flames.

The rules of gambling is never to bet against a streak continuing. I'm not sure 0-3 is a streak, but I am no longer assuming the Oilers will win the next one.

Especially considering the last two games were supposed to be against 2 of the leagues bottom feeders, with both at home.

I have said for years that you need the big bangers on the back end. 2-3 guys that are big and aren't worried about their points. Then add in a Weegar and Anderson and you are set, like Vegas/Boston have been for years.

Who wouldn't pick mcd 1st overall . I had no choice with Skinner through. But I've got Wolf as my other goalie.

Meh. The call was bad and could have hurt the Flames badly if it stuck. But I’m always happy about a neutral zone faceoff when killing a penalty or an ENG.

I can’t recall though - did they put Skinner in for the faceoff?

Yep. Wasn't really a negative for the Flames at all. I'll take a neutral zone faceoff 5 on 5 vs the other team having possession coming up the ice with goalie already out 10 times out of 10.

LOL yeah. Did Kirkland even touch him? Funny how the caption reads that he crushed him but really that was just Draisaitl trying to draw a penalty.

It's way early but I wonder if the officials are calling the Oilers differently? I felt a lot of their embellishment went ignored last night.

Since Perry is their leading scorer now I guess he does not want to stick up for his mates lol, no kidding they are a soft team and probably are now wishing that bringing back Kane off LTIR was going to be much easier cap wise.

Yeah he dove into the boards trying to draw a call. Pretty disgusting sportsmanship. Would have been hilarious if he actually hurt himself as he kind of launched his head into the glass. Idiot.

It was a blown call, and they went to the neutral option, it shouldn't have been a huge negativity ve for either team, that's the point.

I’m assuming the ATL is going to take a while. Those salt mines will be very deep. Will be worth it.

And there was almost 2 minutes left, IIRC - the debates about getting back up the ice faster, or having the goalie back in, are moot. The only thing that whistle did was allow the teams to rest.

Sure it was a blown icing call. Oh well?

Nice to see.
Statistically, in 44 years, it should happen 6 times. So...

and they were down by 2. if they had scored they would have had to - wait for it- have a faceoff at center ice likely with the goalie in

I'm of the view that call (while obviously terrible) was neutral- to maybe a minor inconvience to the Oilers. had the icing held and a faceoff in Flames end with not able to change that would have been a brutal call for the Flames

Since 1970 only 4 teams have made it back to the Final after losing the previous year: 78 Bruins, 84 Oilers, 09 Penguins, 24 Panthers. Surprising so many personalities picked the Oilers to be the 5th.
