What? They made a mistake.

I'm not an NHL referee and I could see that wasn't icing on TV.

Frankly it makes me wonder how close NHL officials are even paying attention.

You could see that wasn't icing from the goddamned Moon.

That was just a terrible call.

I'll take killing the clock over a faceoff at center ice. They still should have atleast been able to do a partial line change.

it was a dumb whistle but once it happened seems like a neutral to me- yes oilers lose auto possession but they got the puck to center and the time out for their big guns

am I missing something?

Yes...the delusion of being an Oilers fan.

Love the pack mentality this group showed tonight...fumbled the puck all over the ice at times...stuck with it....got hemmed in...just worked harder and smashed bodies wherever they could to loosen the puck. For the most part it was pretty effective, and in some ways reminded me of Hartley's Flames.

wasn't sure about Connor Murphy- no points but an even plus minus and his team did beat McDavid's.

The Oilers are in fine shape, they got Stan look the other way Bowman running the show, he's no Ken Holland but who is? was it Stan who brought in future norris trophy winner Ty Emberton (sp)?

No way sportsnet going to run that tape on repeat. You’re going to have to take a secret elevator down 58 flights and then pass through 12 vaults before you find that footage ever again.
It was amazing (though not at all surprising) to watch DeBrusk and Monster Truck talk about the play without specifically mentioning McDavid. DeBrusk said something like " a couple guys might like that play back, defensively" but under no circumstances was he going to be the one to say McDavid got beaten twice on that play (and both were beyond lazy).

a few other random stats

Anderson now tied for D lead in points and NHL lead in plus minus
McDavid last in league in plus minus (after 3 games there is a 10 goal differential between the 2 of them)

Flames with as many points as McDavid- 10. includes Jake Bean who was scratched tonight
Flames with as many points as Draisaitl 14- including now Kirkland!

Flames with as many points as as Hyman , Arvidsson, Bouchard, Nurse , Janmark, Brown, Henrique (etc etc). all.

Fun season so far
Flames have outscored the opposition 9-2 in the 3rd period this year (plus an OT winner)

Pretty resilient team!
