Totally forgot about him too! I took a look and there was a run on defensemen once the first one in that grouping was picked.

Starting with Cal Foote for Tampa at 14, then Brannstrom by Vegas, Valimaki, Liljegren by Toronto and Vaakanainen by Boston at 18.

Dylan Cozens has 0 points in 4 games. Had a pretty poor year in 23-24.
But he’s a 6’3 Center with upside. He has a long term cap hit, but at the moment, he’s overpaid.

What are your opinions on him? Centers like this don’t grow on trees and are rarely available. With his contract, I’m not even sure what his value would be.

Love his game but I think the cost would be too high.

I think if you have a chance to land a C like Cozens, you should jump on it- big, fast, reasonably gritty, and high IQ. He hasn't put it together consistently, though. I don't see Buffalo letting him go though, as I don't think they have many true top-6 centers on their roster currently-most of their forwards are better suited to the wing, IMO.

Completely agree, and the acquisition cost for Cozens would be astronomical.

Would Liljegren be an upgrade on Pachal or Miromanov? I thought he had some great potential, but coaches just don't trust him enough.

PS: This seems like a classic Treliving, sign a player to a contract, and have instant regret. Glad that's not our problem anymore.
Liljegren = Miromanov.

Only makes sense for a team desperately needing a decent RHD. Funny enough Edmonton could use him after dumping Ceci.

I want the Flames to have a good look at Winnipeg’s Lambert since they acquired Yager. If they’re in a playoff mix and want more scoring I wouldn’t be shocked if they ponied up for a rental like Kuzmenko. They would’ve had a better first round had they had Lindholm (who is a better two way player than Monahan).

Lambert in my opinion is nhl ready and exactly what we need.

It would be more like Ras for Cozens, but I agree with Sandman that it leaves too big of a hole at centre for Buffalo.

If they want to move Liljegren, the only deal that makes sense is Barrie. One for one.

Yeah, Andersson for Cozens.

Cozens is the kind of return you go after, if you're going to move Andersson. We got a ####-ton of quantity last year, when we moved all those guys. Now I want quality - one good young player, and make it a C.

Ras alone doesn't get that done not even close. It would be more like Ras+Zary+1st

Cozens is overrated. Hard pass on trading for him.

I don't believe you're correct on that front.

Andersson > Cozens

Cozens is a 2nd line centre, and the only thing that closes the gap between Andersson and Cozens is age - Cozens' 23 years old Vs. Andersson's soon to be 28.

I think Zary is pretty much on par with Cozens, it's just that Cozens made his NHL debut at a younger age due to his physical maturity.

Lol, Conroy laughs and hangs up. Some posters sure undervalue our assets.

I don’t think they’d trade Cozens for Andersson due to age and contract status but I don’t think it’s crazy to keep Zary over Cozens. I’ve been high on Zary for awhile though.
