I could have sworn we had some frost on the rooftops once over the last few weeks but I guess we're not "official".
Frost can be caused by black body radiation losses where the surface of the roof radiates energy to the sky which lowers its temperature below the air temperature that we measure.

That happens with cars parked outside too.

On your earlier reply to my question you linked a live update link so whatever it was showing before isn't visible. I just want to make sure we're not throwing out exaggerated numbers just for shock value (because it's unfortunately too common on the internet).
My quote with the link to you earlier had the exact same cutout. hah. On the direct quote, I must have gotten the winds mixed up, my bad. But there was a 902mb pressure. See below.
LOCATION...23.0N 86.9W
ABOUT 280 MI...450 KM WSW OF THE DRY TORTUGAS
ABOUT 440 MI...710 KM SW OF TAMPA FLORIDA
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...165 MPH...270 KM/H
PRESENT MOVEMENT...ENE OR 70 DEGREES AT 10 MPH...17 KM/H
MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...902 MB...26.64 INCHES
Interestingly enough, the latest recon has the storm now up to 910 mb. This scientist suggests a possible EWRC about to happen again. I do wonder if the 902/905 mb was the second peak intensity.
Watching the live coverage from Florida on hurricane Milton is wild. Storm surge, devastating winds, random and strong tornadoes that pop up out of no-where. There's just so much going on all at the same time.
It's actually impressive how well the local news stations communicate everything. I just watched the local Tampa Bay news for like 5 minutes and in that time they communicated available shelters based on individual needs (new mothers, people with disabilities, etc.), the shelters that are now at capacity, the path of two active tornadoes (within the Tampa Bay area!!), the path of the hurricane and the forecasted storm surge and wind speed/direction, places you can still buy fuel and places where your electric vehicle will be safest. Unreal how organized and effective they are.
These folks haven't even recovered or cleaned up from Helene. We complain about our weather all the time, but we are so freaking lucky we don't have to deal with continent sized hurricanes and everything that comes with them.
So, TIL that hurricanes, despite being powerful destroyers of our cities and lives, serve a valid function in transfering heat from the equator to the poles.
Currently there are at least 14 tornado warnings including a PDS tornado warning at Lake Placid.
A great channel for live coverage, it was meant to start later today for the hurricane, but the tornado impact is so significant he started the coverage early.
*17 tornado warnings now since posting and this is just barely starting
