Speaking of wind, hurricane milton went from a cat 1(80mph) to a cat 4(155mph) in 12 hours
The forecast track has it nailing the Tampa Bay area Wednesday night

Shades of Wilma in 2005, and in the same area I think?

Last night it was 995mb, has a storm ever dropped 70mb in 12 hours?

Milton recorded with a 898 mb pressure, NW was unable to obtain pressure from the eye. So, it’s even lower than 898. Very historic!

Is the website back up? It was down when I looked earlier today.
This looks to be a doozy.

NOAA VDM gave a barometric pressure of 905mb afterwards, which likely means it’s going through EWRC. As it approaches Florida, a wind shear to the north should hopefully decrease wind strength. Doesn’t really effect the storm surge when it’s a category 5, though.

The water could reach the
following heights above ground somewhere in the indicated areas if
the peak surge occurs at the time of high tide...
Anclote River, FL to Englewood, FL...10-15 ft
Tampa Bay...10-15 ft
Englewood, FL to Bonita Beach, FL...6-10 ft
Charlotte Harbor...6-10 ft
Yankeetown, FL to Anclote River, FL...5-10 ft

That's a huge area under 10 feet of water.
