If you rearrange the letters in "Stanley Cup" it spells "Sept. Lunacy."

According to Capwages, it looks like they only have 42 contracts. They sure have a lot of flexibility with contracts.

God bless that management group for signing a Brown every year to way too much money and wiping all cap flexibility they could've had by just not peeing precious cap into the wind for no reason.
Where would these troglodytes be without savior Connor to save them from themselves?

It’s interesting that brown was signed on July 1, but McGM was probably busy with Leon throwing water balloons off the high level bridge onto Canada Day pontooners floating by on the North Saskatchewan below.
The player that was retained over brown is in fact an old teammate of McGM and Knoblauch coached him before. It’s like the Erie otters are playing in Edmonton, except older.

Oilers have derpth off ice and on ice. The Edmonton urinal reporting that:
…
The Oilers did and do have space on the roster for one more player, but rolled the dice when they waived Lavoie yesterday, presumably in pursuit of opening up a little bit of cap space for accrual purposes.
…
So they decided to waive their second round pick who was on a league minimum contract for cap purposes…but didn’t have to.
I guess he didn’t dig in.

I know the Oiler stink is still on him... but Lavoie didn't look that bad in the bit that I saw him.

Cap people, please
Read something about the Oilers accruing cap space by being about 1M under right now.
But with Kane on LTIR they don't get to accrue any, correct?

Wait, the Oilers waived that "great" prospect they traded for earlier this year... And he got picked up by Vegas? Lmao.

Correct. If you're using LTIR, you are not accruing cap space.

Correct, yes, but did they ever officially put him on LTIR? IIRC they don't technically need to in order to ice a full lineup. Right now Capwages has them with 1.17 million in cap room with 21 players on the roster and Kane just on regular IR, not LTIR

they are (currently) $173K under the cap, including Kane. So yes, they are accruing a little space.

So what happens when Kane is cleared, his injury is not going to keep him out all year.

Well, don’t be too sure about that. I read 5-6 months out. It’s a playoff miracle!

Capwages has them at 1.17 million in space currently, granted with only 21 on their roster at the moment

Cap Wages has them with 14 forwards (including Podkolzin and Hamblin), leaving them with $170k in space
