Hope those call ups are much sooner than later (although that probably implies that we suck out of the gate)

At least the Wranglers will be fascinating to watch this season.
Yup, it feels like a very old team given the position most fans believe where in.

But theyve said it as much themsleves, theyre going to for playoffs.

Lol, this is going to be a loooooong season if people are already upset with the lineup (which features a lot of younger guys in very prominent roles), with a tonne of opportunity for call ups with injuries and a management team focused on development.

I just don't get this lament. The best thing for the future is to manage the growth and development of the young players properly - and that means the AHL, for most. Playing them on the big club, now, just so that you and other impatient fans can get a glimpse of them, is just a bizarre thing to ask for.

Also, the Wranglers are right here in town - if you want to watch Honkek play, guess what? You can!

How many times are you going to repost this silly - and widely refuted - refrain?

It's just about 1-2 too many vet signings around the fringes of the roster.

Roster can be competitive night in night out while infusing it with youth in the process.

Fans aren't always rational and infinitely patient, putting the textbook process first. We want a little fun. As one that's toiled with it for many years waiting for a commitment to a rebuild I want to see the talent as soon as humanly possible. Most of the appeal of the team will come down to this by December or so. Sue me.

Seen the subpar vet roster clawing to "just get in" song and dance about three too many times to be coaxed into false hope again.

It's about the youth now.

And yes, I may be tuning into more Wranglers than Flames games this year depending on how things go.

What's youth to you?

We have Bahl (24), Zary (23), Pelletier (23), Coronato (21), Klapka (24), Wolf (23).

All guys who are right into their development curve as NHL players.

That’s what they’re doing. 1/3 of the team has played less than a season. 1/3 of the team is also under 25. Neither of those include Honzek and Coronato, who are going to play games this year.

Fans, or you?

Maybe recognize you aren't being rational and you will enjoy watching hockey more? or?

Conroy probably had to fight off the owners from spending the 20 million in cap and going for 1 year deals.

He's not going to hold them off for long

Assuming Cooley, Hanley, Schwindt and Coronato get sent down

the flames average age to start the season is 27.39 that would make them the 9th youngest team in the NHL.

last year they played 39 different players and had an average age of 27.59

I believe they are going 14 forwards, 7 D, and two goalies to start season.

If they got rid of coleman they’d need someone back to avoid the floor. I have a feeling it’s not that. At least not yet.

That or 13F, 7D and 3G. I think there's a fair amount of uncertainty around Cooley's situation. I don't think they'll go with 8D and Hanley will be the one waived.
