People will follow a well spoken leader.

People will sometimes follow a leader that resorts to shouting and intimidation.

Nobody at all follows a kid with shrill screaming having a complete meltdown of a tantrum.

Thank you very much, but I will prefer to follow Winston Churchill into battle vs that weirdo giving me a headache with those high notes.

To me, that was the reaction of a captain who knows he's on camera and realizes he needs to do/say something to save face.

That's not somebody who's experienced or comfortable with confrontation or being a voice. He reverted to childhood tantrum mode as that's probably the last time he's acted that way.

Horrible look for a guy who has no business being a captain of anything.

I think studies have shown that the first and possibly the second outburst like this have an effect on people. It wears out its effectiveness after the second time. As Hyman said…we’re used to it, meaning that it has no effect.

“Let’s go” and “dig in” won’t save humanity if the aliens come.

I also have been wondering about the timing. That's after game 2, being June 10. Game 3 wasn't until June 13.

Were the players supposed to think at the anthem three days later:

"Hey. I remember Connor really shrieked at the end of last game. I should try hard now!"

I just don't see it as being effective.

I am actually surprised that the NHL wants footage like that out there. Him shrieking f-words can't be great for marketability.

How is it cursed? The Oilers lost, this version of E=NG is essentially the “The Shawshank Redemption” of E=NG, especially the crawling through a mile sewage. Insert free Andy gif

They were 5-12-1 and 30th overall when this thread was started. They went 44-15-5 after this thread was started and went to Game 7 of the Final.

I don't know man, the guy could barely skate and the cigar smoking did nothing for his cardio.

It just seems so misplaced that he's screaming "dig in", "right now" and such AFTER the game when they next play days later.

I think that is why they closed the curtain on him. They were probably thinking, not this crap again, hide the remote.

Jeez, if I had a tantrum like that caught on camera I'd be insanely embarrassed. Not only is he raging on like a whiny baby, but NO ONE is paying him ANY attention whatsoever.

What a true "leader" he is.
