Aw ####. Willie is the only Highwayman left standing now.
Who’s gonna fill their shoes?
Getting harder and harder to listen to that song from George jones especially since my dad died a few years ago, but each one of these legends leaving us makes me think of that song.
Walked into a collectibles store in Vegas years ago and noticed someone at a table signing autographs, it was pretty quiet in the store, walked up to him and realized it was Pete Rose. Didn't get an autograph though, he was asking for what I thought at the time was a little too steep of a price. I think about that time once in a while and wish I would have just sucked it up and got one. Darn.
As a kid, I read whatever I could get my hands on about The Big Red Machine. I read Johnny Bench's autobiography, Joe Morgan's autobiography. Pete Rose was a superhero to me. Loved that guy. Then I didnt.

RIP Charlie Hustle.
My grandfather HATED him. He hated even more that they didn’t vote him to Cooperstown. I understand why they didn’t, but man, he put up some crazy numbers.
Well, now that he's gone, perhaps the Hall will include him as he should have been regardless of the gambling scandal.
Contrary to popular belief, Pete Rose's ban wasn't termed a "lifetime ban," it was that he's "permanently ineligible" which will make it more difficult to get around. Think Shoeless Joe Jackson and the fact that there are still people trying to get that ban lifted. That's what Pete Rose's estate will be up against.
