Harris is more than a necessary alternative. There is also an optimistic case for elevating her, one that is rooted in her policies and borne out by her experience as vice president, a senator and a state attorney general.

I normally don’t watch debates but the Harris/Trump one was entertaining. Not as entertaining as the last evening of the DNC conference, which was about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on. Walz can handle Vance’s bu11$h1t. The more crap Vance spews the more it hurts Trump
We are behind on the sociopolitical problems but our economy is worse. If we catch up on the sociopolitical and our economy stays worse, I can see us being worse overall.
One of the reasons we don’t have as many sociopolitical problems is we don’t have Fox News or other dominant one-sided media. Yes there’s the National Post but print and social media doesn’t reach people the way tv does, even now. And no, CBC is not the left version of Fox News.
I worry that Poilievre may encourage such a network, as Harper tried to do, even going as far as selling the CBC to such an outfit.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden are “going out of their way” to hinder his campaign efforts.
“We had one of the biggest crowds I’ve ever seen on Saturday in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, where a terrible migrant crime recently occurred. We ended up using a 750-seat theater and had to turn away more than 50,000 people,” he posted.
Trump also highlighted that the Secret Service could not provide proper protection for him during the event because they were tasked with the president of Iran, whom he alleged “is doing everything possible to kill me” at the United Nations event.
At his rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, Trump told his crowd that the administration “would not let us have” 50,000 attendees at a Wisconsin outdoor rally the day before.
"Reactionaries on the left" is one of the dumbest things written on this site while trying to sound smart. You either don't have know how to properly apply that term, or you're engaging in some super ridiculous equivocation/newspeak.
Don't you claim to be an academic?

Iran likely isn't crazy enough to assassinate Trump, but they are quite openly against his re-election.
Not sure how many remember it, but for a moment during his presidency, Trump was pretty openly and actively trying to start a war against Iran, he was only really stopped by voices of reason in the government and in Pentagon.
Much of the reason was (probably that Putin told him to do it, but also) because Obama had successfully made a deal with Iran, and Trump just wanted to destroy anything with Obamas name on it.
...People really SHOULD be talking more about that, it's probably one of the worst things Trump did during his presidency, and it's something which has massive, far-reaching consequences that are very much still seen today.
People should remember it, because the US ripping up an agreement they themselves had pushed hard for did massive damage to US reputation as a reliable negotiating partner, an issue which is still felt today in international politics (for good reason, after all Trunp could get re-elected and would probably do more of the same.) It also helped push Iran away from (relatively) moderate politics and straight into the arms of Russia who was conveniently right there to help protect Iran from that crazy bully overseas.
It's also.worth remembering that that deal, often credited to Obama, was also signed by Russia, China, Germany, UK and France. It was a really big international agreement that was supposed to lift the international sanctions around Iran and help them "join the international community".
Trump pulled out of that deal unilaterally and pushed for even more sanctions, especially around oil. The European powers desperately tried to salvage the deal by suggesting they would create measures to circumvent the sanctions, but ultimately the deal died.
The final nail on the coffin was the US assassinating a top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani (with four others dying as "collateral damage") with a drone strike. What made the strike even worse was the fact that Soleimani was at that moment coming back from a diplomatic effort to help ease tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia, literally carrying a letter from Saudi Arabia on him. While this was likely completely accidental, you can just imagine what this looked like from the Iranian perspective: the US essentially assassinated a diplomatic envoy during negotiations between them and a US ally. You can imagine how batcrap insane this made US look in many Middle-Eastern eyes.
Trump still has an active arrest warrant in Iran for this attack, and it's the official reason why Iran has actively been trying to sabotage the Trump campaign with hacking efforts.
The destruction of this deal had a huge impact in Iranian internal politics. Then Iranian resident Hassan Rouhani had won the presidency in a huge landslide (73% of the vote) on a platform of negotiating with the West to lift the sanctions, and improving the human rights situation inside Iran. After that deal failed, he and many other potential moderates were banned from even running in the next election by Irans guardian council.
In other words, Iran isn't even giving moderate diplomacy a chance anymore, because of what Trump did. Biden tried to talk Iran back into the deal, but it was predictably hopeless.

Sorry for the long post about foreign politics that famously almost no one in America thinks is important (4% of voters or something like that).
Here'sa daily reminder that Trump is really showing is age these days, praising TiVO and not knowing what a "phoneapp" is. I don't even know what to even make of that weird rambling about actors lacking muscles and the refugees having "the whole package"

Trump's presidency made all the pretend crazy countries back off their rhetoric because Trump took it at face value and did actual crazy stuff.
It's kinda win win now. Either we get another 4yrs of funny stuff and blatant corruption that makes everyone realise there's no rules against it...or we get to see the guy go on trial in Georgia at some point on live television.
A friend I chatted with on the weekend says Americans are the stupidest people on the planet. I disagree as I know decent, intelligent Americans, an opinion not supported by the polls showing that this election is a toss up. With what we know of Trump, how is this possible? Yeah I know, racism. (I don’t believe polls and still think the Dems substantially outperform the polls.)
No offense MoneyGuy, but you constantly come off as a newb at American politics. If you need an explanation as to why this race is close, to me it says you're a newb.

I think he's just in a twitter bubble and believes the inane things amplified on that medium to hold significance that they clearly do not.

I don’t think it’s that close and have said so several times.
