They're definitely all true, but really it's 'people are the worst' and their mode of transportation is irrelevant

Bang on. Even pedestrians are the worst at times. Heads buried in their phones while dragging their asses like they have contempt for waiting drivers across busy intersections where they should be paying attention.

Nothing will piss me off more than having a car buzz by while you're crossing the street. Walking into Safeway I had some old bitch not even slow down while I walked across the "street" into the store, at least let me get close to the sidewalk.
But yes, you sometimes have those diagonal crossing dummies just generally dragging their ass. Put a spring in your step.

To be fair it looks pretty silly to go from saying “cyclists should be hunted for sport” to “I weep for the Gaudreau family! We walk with the Gaudreaus!” 2 minutes later in another thread.
Like, obviously you’re kind of bsing about both at that point. Which is fine, but it doesn’t take the world’s greatest empath to figure out why those jokes aren’t really landing right now.

I was coming out of McDonalds with my morning coffee about 1/4 way across a painted pedestrian crossing in a parking lot last week and rather than stopping, this guy just zags into the other lane and drives around me. This dude in a truck saw it, shook his head and said "What an #######!". I do understand why some pedestrians would have contempt for drivers because people are the worst.

The speed I walk across the crosswalk is inversely proportional to the wankerishness of the driver approaching.

"This spinny thing here under the rack, it needs to spin so before you close it, just check that it spins by giving it a spin."
10 mins later. click click. click click. click click.
"What's that sound?"
Well, at least half the dishes get washed extra well.

I have a stretch biking to work every morning that has been a bit different after the Gaudreaus were killed, kind of distracting having the thought of them being plowed into and run over from behind. I remind myself that it's 6:15AM and everyone out there is heading to work and not still drunk, hopefully.

Kind of equivalent to “I drove like an A-hole to prove what an A-hole that other driver is.” Now there are two A-holes on the scene from everyone else’s perspective.

It’s literally maybe ten seconds out of your day max. The person in the giant human smasher can chill out for the absolute briefest of moments.

I’m envisioning him “walking” at a pace so slow to prove a point, that he’s now as bad as the aggressive driver.
Everyone has probably been in a situation where they became aggressive due to someone one else’s actions, only to realize, upon reflection, that they became just as big of a dick as the other.

Why would you piss someone off on purpose, when etiquette and normal behaviour have already been eroded? As the previous poster said you're just adding another ####### to the equation.

I believe Res is talking in general about #######s that don't stop for pedestrians
Which really grinds my gears especially in winter.
Driver sat in warm car while pedestrian is out in cold.

That’s true. If anything this topic teaches us that mildly inconveniencing a driver can be very dangerous to your health. People got places to be and their time is gold. Knees to chest as you cross those crosswalks people, knees to chest.

There was a couple of dumb geese here that actually argued against moving out of the way of aggressive drivers as a form of self preservation.
I’m all for taking the space that’s rightfully yours to take, but yeah, this topic should at least be evidence for people here that maybe don’t take the space that a crazy person wants to take instead any longer than you physically have to.

I played idiot pedestrian a couple days ago.
I was walking north on the east side of the street, still 20 paces from the crosswalk when the southbound driver who was signaling to turn right stopped in the middle of the lane. I had not yet indicated I wanted to cross, I may turn left and continue walking around the block. I stopped at the junction and picked my nose for a moment and the driver behind started blowing the horn. The signaling driver still didn’t move so I felt obligated to cross the street - made it safely eventually.

I live in a walkable city so you don’t have to work very hard to convince me most drivers are distracted at best and emotionally stunted potential killers at worst.
Except Tesla drivers. For them I definitely slow my walk to a ridiculous level cause I think it’s funny. Experience momentary annoyance ya nerd.

He may have been but he was quoting another poster who seemed proud of deliberately antagonising drivers. Everyone can be more courteous but the pedestrian pissing off the guy in a lifted truck is inherently more dangerous than the reverse.
