I’d take Forsling over everyone not named Makar.

Ekholm really? Sergachev?

Your list is helping our argument. It’s not just about points. He shutdown McDavid and Drysate

Hey man, if you think he’s the 2nd best defenceman on the planet that’s cool. It’s totally subjective so there’s no wrong answers but I doubt you’ll find anyone to agree with you that he’s better than Fox or Hughes. That’s crazy talk.

He is better defensively than most of that list...Top 5 isnt much of a stretch...top 10 there isnt any debate at all. Being a top 10 dman in a 32 team league is certainly a star. Guy is one of the most under rated players in the league...and Im no Panther fan (except vs the Oilers)

Ekblad lol

You missed the “and friends” portion of that list I guess lol. You miss the point pretty regularly so no worries friend, I get it.

https://www.nhl.com/panthers/news/20...ustav-forsling

He was a plus 56, had 39 points and doesn't even play the PP. Florida had the 6th best penalty kill as well.

I think you are rating guys because of point totals, if he played the PP I am sure he would be pushing 50-60 points as well.

You also had Elkhom on your list, which is hilarious.

Anyone able to watch the Utah game last night? Looks like Iginla drew in and had 4 pims and about 12 minutes of ice time, listed as a center which is interesting.

Can you guys find a list by any other hockey source that his him that high?

Didn’t make the TSN top 50 which is a 20 person voted list with 11 D men on it.

Oh this was a debate? I didn’t take this quite as seriously as you did apparently. Trying to debate who is a “star” seems a little baseless and unquantifiable but somehow right in your wheelhouse lol. You do you though, special little guy.

How about the Norris Trophy voting in which he finished 9th?

NJ finally got a preseason win, but neither Markstrom nor Allen played a minute. Was Brodeur's son in goal.

The 4 pim was nightstick double minor. But he looked good, not lost when he was on ice.

Here's an article
https://kslsports.com/527118/tij-igi...ey-club-debut/

Clayton Keller is quoted in the article: " He shoots it very good as well. The first couple skates I was surprised at how hard and good he shoots it. He’s going to be a special player…a guy I’m looking forward to playing with soon.”

yep and that was before the incredible playoffs he had
he is severely under rated...the new Barkov

Florida, even with a cup doesn't get the fanfare that some teams do. Guy shut down McDrai in the stanley cup finals.

Reinbacher out 5-6 months for the Habs after knee surgery, and Laine 2-3 months with a knee sprain.

Ok, we'll use some data then to prove how dumb your claim is, but for the record, you are important and special here.

I saw the post about how in a one year snapshot that Forsling finished 9th in Norris voting. Now one set of data points means incredibly little, that shows little to no context or consistency to produce the same results. Forsling has been an NHL defender since 2020/2021, so a 4 year snapshot will provide the most info available to us at this time. I included the eventual Norris winner as well as the closest comparables to the lofty 85 vote points set by Forsling. Youll see below are the splits of NHL vote points as found on:

https://www.hockey-reference.com/awa...ting-2021.html

2021 - Adam Fox (743) Norris Winner
2021 - Darnell Nurse (76) LOL
2021 - Mackenzie Weegar (74)
2021 - Gustav Forsling (0)

2022 - Cale Makar (1631) Norris Winner
2022 - Adam Fox (248)
2022 - Aaron Ekblad (74)
2022 - The corpse of Kris Letang (73)
2022 - Gustav Forsling (0)

2023 - Erik Karlsson (1585) Norris winner
2023 - Quinn Hughes (101)
2023 - The borderline octogenarian Brent Burns (41)
2023 - Gustav Forsling (Ill let you fill in the blank here champ, use your favourite crayon)

2024 - Quinn Hughes (1861) Norris winner
2024 - Josh Morrissey (166)
2024 - Noah Dobson (95)
2024 - Gustav Forsling (85 whoohoo we're on the board!!)

Now this is only the year to year point totals, I dont care enough to go through and find the cumulative vote point totals over this time frame but that would all prove further to how dumb your point is. Forsling, over his career, has been a passable and young defenceman with some talent. He is not some world beating game changer.

With all this said, I do think he is a very good defenceman, but as of right now he is no star and the Norris voting over his career is on my side.
