Frk and Kirkland on waivers today. Assuming they get sent down, here's who's left in camp...
ONE-WAY (Waivers)- Backlund
- Coleman
- Duehr
- Huberdeau
- Kadri
- Kuzmenko
- Lomberg
- Mantha
- Pospisil
- Rooney
- Sharangovich
- Zary
- Andersson
- Bahl
- Bean
- Hanley
- Miromanov
- Pachal
- Weegar
TWO-WAY (Waivers)
NO WAIVERS- Coronato
- Honzek
- Klapka
- Morton
- Brzustewicz
- Grushnikov
- Kuznetzov
UNSIGNED
I believe the players in red are the locks for the opening roster, which leaves 2 open spots at forward and 2 open spots on defence.
I predict it will be Rooney and Pelletier as the 2 forwards and Barrie and Grushnikov as the 2 defencemen.

I think Hunt and Klapka will stay up and alternate on the 4th line. Pelletier is waived (and clears). Coronato starts the season with the Wranglers, but is the first call-up with any injuries in the top-9 and plays 50+ games with the Flames.

Barrie isn’t worth waiving Solovyov, he hasn’t stood out in the pre-season and PP reps can be used for development of some future players instead. Andersson and Weegar need to keep their production up for eventual trades.

Really?
I'm guessing that is almost exactly what occurs.

I still don't see the Flames risking Cooley at the start to waivers. I think the Ducks or someone grabs him.

We should keep Pelletier, Solovyov, Klapka for sure.
Winning is the main goal but developing young team is just the same goal for this season. So I hope Conroy manage both tasks without loosing any assets for free.

Grushnikov on the team only makes sense if he's top 6 and getting minutes.

Then you're sending Wolf down?

They either pass on Barrie or he signs elsewhere. I don't see a fit here.

With Gibson expected to miss the first quarter of the season, you have to think the Ducks will be in the goalie market. Right now, Dansk is their second-best healthy goalie.
If we assume the Flames and Ducks will be fighting for draft position this season, it might be in the Flames' best interest to have them claim Cooley off waivers and maybe win a couple of games. Once Gibson is back, the Ducks can waive Cooley and the Flames could reclaim him and send him down.
Win-win.

The thing about Barrie is that Fan 960 and Barn burner have said repeatedly that there is basically a handshake done deal to sign him. Then again, that was the reporting around Hanifin... and Kylington...
I didn't really like the PTO in the first place, I don't think the Flames are actually a good fit for him, his talents are better suited to a very defensive team who desperately needs a offensive weapon from their defense and is competing for a playoff spot.

I like Grushnikov more I guess.
Defence has the toughest decisions in my mind.

Whatever they do I just hope they don’t sign Barrie. Pretty sure the vcr OT goal sealed Tinordi’s fate.

Don't sign Barrie. Honzek and Hunter are better off starting in the AHL.

Mantha is not going to be a healthy scratch, lol..

You have no worries
Nobody would offer a 3rd for him
Maybe a 5th at most

So, they keep 3 goalies?
Or waive Vladar? I think he could clear due to his cap hit, but I just don't see the Flames going with such untested goalies.
Because surely they aren't sending Wolf down.
I just think the likely course is to try and send Cooley down. I just don't see anyone picking him up to play backup. Maybe if that team keeps 3 goalies.
