The new scoreboard will move over and repurposed somehow, my guess is if they got new boards now, those will be used maybe in the community rink in 3 years time. Same with the new time of day clocks etc.

Nope. This scoreboard will NOT move into the new barn.

They should program the new Jumbotron with a ‘classic mode’ to recreate that look. Display it whenever they want the crowd to party like it’s 1989.

Some thoughts;
$1.3M back in the day.
This lady doesn't see the game to know what should go up, she gets Al Coates to tell her what's going on!
The Mickey mouse hands. IIRC, there were also human hands, a barefoot that stomped up dust, the graphics shown on the video, and some other ref ones that made fun of them. The wave, too, both with ocean waves and people waves. Yosemite Sam.
What a process for getting graphics. Draw on paper, then project, and created pixel by pixel. And it's animated, more pixel by pixel. 30h of work for 15 seconds animation. 1983 everyone!
The raising of a car on a hoist and then the word Loob comes on the screen. Not sure if that ever was on the scoreboard but that is absolute gold and deserves some award.

Absolutely. The world lacks character and this is a great idea.

Does anyone remember a song called something like ‘Heart of the City,’ paired with a jumbotron animation of the Calgary skyline with a big pulsating heart? Would have been the back half of the 80s.

Yes, I think it is the early 90s, around 90-91, they were handing out scarfs at one game I attended with "Heart of the City" on it

That lady did a great job back then. We also had the trumpet guy . We've had some pretty awesome memories in thr dome.
Even Harvey the first one was NUTS. Getting his tongue ripped out by MCTAVISH. Too bad Sasha Lakovich wasn't there to launch himself onto the gresasers bench for revenge.
Or the naked guy that got knocked out

I remember when the original Harvey used to do a balancing act, walking all the way around the top of the glass with (I believe) an over-length hockey stick for a balancing pole. Sometimes he would have to touch down with the stick to keep from falling, but damn! That was a neat stunt.

Was at the game yesterday and this jumbotron sucks.
Like anyone cares who skated the fastest during the game and how far in kms they skated... lol
Also during the 4 minute kill against Backlund they put up the stupid 50/50 numbers and you couldn't even tell how long the PK had left!

That's the same issue I have and pointed out earlier. Ditch the real time stats and 50/50 jackpot and show us what matters in a readable format. I'm sure they will figure this out, it can't be hard.
