Nah, this would be a brand new policy. I don't understand how the rest of the world functions with weekends off. You have a weekend to tie up other things in your life besides work, and then noone's open to facilitate these errands. Blast!

Meloche Monnex usualy insures to groups, but if you qualify for a group, or if they accept other policies, then they are open 24/7. At least if you have a policy with them, as I do, they are.

Just to make sure... you have 14 days to transfer registration, not insurance.

I see that London Drugs sells car insurance. Not sure if that part is open today or not.
Another thought- Sears or Co-op? Once again, not sure if they sell it or if they are open Sunday.
Or Canadian Direct.

RBC Insurance you can do totally online. No phone calls, you can print off a temporary proof of insurance, etc.

I just saw an ad on HGTV for Statefarm. They claimed in the ad you can get insurance from them 24/7.

No he is correct, there are concessions in an auto policy for newly aquired vehicles. And to be more specific, your registration can be slightly put off IF the vehicle you just purchased is replacing the one you already own. Considering the hours most registries are open these days, there really is no reason why a newly purchased vehicle can be registered the same day, especialy if bought from a dealership.

You can drive a new vehicle off the lot without getting insurance? Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't doesn't a policy cover a certain VIN and won't cover another one? I've always had to call my company and advise them to activate insurance on a certain date for a new purchase. Wasn't allowed to drive it otherwise.
I was just making it clear in case someone else read it and though they had 14 days to insure the vehicle, which is what it sounded like.

you do if all of your vehicles are insured with the same company or the car is replacing one on your policy. Most dealers require you to have the insurance before you leave. But once you inform your company that you have the vehicle you have to do it immediately.
I just started working in insurance 2 months ago and just finishing up training so this is all fresh in my mind

^^^You are referring to a very specific section of S.P.F. 1. Can you be absolutely certain on the information presented that it applies to the OP's situation?
The safest route is always to call your agent and confirm coverage for the new vehicle before driving it. Get your agent to fax you a copy of the new financial responsibility card if at all possible.

I know I had a friend who bought a car and smashed it up a few hours later before he got insurance. He was ticketed for driving without insurance and his company didnt cover the damages. Also consider this: If you buy a new car, they will in no way let you drive it off the lot unless you have proof of insurance on THAT car.
I wouldn't be doing it without insurance, but thats just me
