It looks like he could be out of the game in a couple of years. Playing singles on the tour for an entire career isn't easy and it's not for everyone.

It's very strange how he looks so engaged for Davis Cup play and then so lackluster for tour play. Now this was a Challenger level event so that might explain it somewhat, but then why even sign up to play if your heart isn't in it?

Felix is just getting underway on TSN 5 - Oh great, Felix is heading off court before the match has even started.

So ridiculous - Nishioka arguing over a ball that he had no chance of getting to.

Nishioka acted like an idiot throughout the entire match and ends up winning. Really bad loss for Felix (56 unforced errors).

So weird how Felix and Dennis can raise their level of play for Davis Cup and beat anyone but come out so flat and uninspired in tour events. I admire that they bring it when playing for the flag but they are both doing a disservice to their personal careers not being able to bring it on tour events.

Just a day/night of upsets in Tokyo as in addition to Felix losing, Oikos was eliminated by Alex Michelsen in three sets and top seed Taylor Fritz was beaten by Arthur Fils.

Yeah, he's really been in fine form of late. I don't recall him having this much pop on his serve, but he hit 12 aces against Frances.

Several top players on the WTA tour missing the China Open which presented a golden opportunity for Leylah to make a deep run and she loses 7-5 6-2 to Peyton Stearns. Currently sitting at #27 in the live rankings, in my opinion, she's a better player than that ranking, but she has to go out and prove it.

Leylah will never have Sabalenka bombs, but she needs to find more. Paolini proves that shorter players can still generate finishing power.

I know that she tries to take time away from her opponent by staying close to the baseline, but that also means she is taking time away from herself especially when she's playing a big hitter. Paolini is a fine comparison because she's a great defender who can also run all day. I need to remind myself every so often that Leylah is still just 22 years old, still far from a finished product.

Both Denis and Gabriel are in qualifying for the Shanghai Masters and they each won their respective opening round matches.
