The sign says 'No parking', not 'No stopping'; stopping to pick someone up is perfectly legal in this instance, I would imagine.

lmao wtf is the difference between parking and stopping? This is an insane thing to parse out

In a no parking zone you can stop temporarily and wait a short time for someone to get in your vehicle, for example. You don’t shut off your engine and typically don’t leave your vehicle so you cause minimal traffic disruption.
In a no stopping zone you can’t stop, even for a few seconds to get a passenger. Taxis and Ubers still do but they suck.

Sorry yeah I'm aware, but reply was in the context of the bike lane though. It's a lane of traffic, for bikes, you can't park or even stop in them.

Got it. The no parking sign is for the lane next to the bike zone. The Uber driver in the photo shouldn’t be in the bike lane, regardless of signage, but again, they suck.

The definition is actively loading or unloading. Waiting a short period of time is considered parking. I linked above.
It’s probably more an enforcement thing that it’s worded like that then actual intent though.

Tell that to the bugs. We had to get professionals in to kill a swarm of the Box Elders last year that had infested my Neighbors maple tree. I shudder to think what my house would have looked like last winter as they moved in from the cold.

Were they hurting the tree? I know there have been tons of them lately but they seem harmless.

An Uber driver parking there to pick something up is such a piss-off.
But a quick side-bar, as someone that's closed a lot of lanes in my life, the ire of a cyclist for blocking a bike lane with my flashing red lights was always some next-level ####. I've lost count of the number of times I'd been told I was going to lose my job after they shove a cell phone in my face taking video because I parked there. ####ing nutjobs.
Granted I've been honked at constantly, and even hit by a car, but there's just something more intimate about the interactions with cyclists

That’s not a bad plan. My place is many storeys tall though so it would only work for a bit of them and most like to be up high where it’s hotter.

Ya, otherwise they start finding their way inside when it cools down and then I have to catch a bunch every day all winter. I also have 11’ ceilings so it’s a major pain in the ass.

Speaking of bugs I need to spray my garage. Nice big fat black widow kicking it on the base of the door when I opened it today. So now I don’t have a garage that’s the spider’s house.

If the other bigger bugs or the birds were using them for food...id leave them alone (just kill the ones that make it inside, thats off limits to them) but my understanding is they taste bad so have no predators.

Aside from the fact that we actually have different signs for "No Stopping" and "No Parking" in this city?
The important document (since this isn't a provincial law / part of the TSA, but a Calgary bylaw) is City of Calgary Traffic Bylaw, 26M96 which doesn't make any allowances whatsoever for a vehicle being in a bike lane except for city and emergency vehicles which are effectively exempt.

I should get into the mud flap business. That is absurd.

My Neighbor had it cut down shortly after, it was too big for their yard anyway and as it was the source of the infestation - it was best to just get rid of it.

Why can’t people just not have an accident on Deerfoot every single day? What is it that makes it so difficult to accomplish?

So frustrating to drive here.
Yesterday on 16th someone in a Honda Civic stick, can't drive worth ####. Going 60 in a 90 zone, switching lanes and just not giving a ####.
50 zone, someone just strolling at 30 some drywall company. Should give them a google review just for that.
Not to mention someone going 90 in the left lane on the highway and won't move over, while I am getting boxed out to change lanes to take an exit.

Because instead of requiring better drivers, we've dumbed down everything to accommodate the people who should not drive, but can now sorta operate on our roads. This also increases our insurance costs. You can thank the government.
