Well he rage quit Twitter when Trump was banned and joined parler and spread conspiracy theories.
He was also suspended in juniour for racism, and kicked off the New York Rangers for his behaviour.
Now he can't even get a PTO. It's not like he lacks any talent, he is just an idiot.
Putin should send him to war.

Perlini has a YouTube channel, and he made a video about DeAngelo a few weeks ago. He said DeAngelo is a great guy, liked by his teammates, and the reputation is overblown.
I think the main reason for his lack of NHL contract is that he was abysmal last year. A healthy scratch more often than not. He was still around the team, but wasn't good enough to play. I don't think his reputation helps, but it's mainly due to his play.

THey are buddies.
Let's put it this way. Look at the Edmonton Oilers defence. Even they stayed away. That tells you everything you need to know.

I have a family relative that plays in the NHL, and has played with Deangelo. He has told me that he is a good guy. <shrug>

Oilers didn't want him because he wasn't a forward. They only want forwards.

LeBrun says the Rangers have told Shesterkin they are willing to pay him $10.5 million per and the deal is still not done. Says Shesterkin and his camp are looking to reset the goalie market. Could be looking for 11 or 12 million. Shesterkin's camp has told the Rangers they prefer not to negotiate once the season starts.
Status quo on Swayman. Sayman wants an 8 year deal. Like Shesterkin, Swayman wants to break through higher than what Sorokin, Hellebuyck, and Saros signed for but doesn't have UFA leverage like Shesterkin.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Not Swayman IMO. That team has a history of winning regardless of who is in the net.

Yeah to me it feels like the end game for Bruins/Swayman will just be a shorter duration deal (2-3 years).
For Shesterkin my guess is he wants $11M - he wants to be higher than Price ($10.5M) and Bobrovsky ($10.0M).

Shesterkin can negotiate that IMO. Swayman? IMO easily replaceable.

might want to double check those numbers because I can assure you 50% of the US doesn't support Trump let alone over
besides he has gone far beyond just "supporting Trump" he is at Theo level delusion

I think that goalies should get paid for their value. The best in the league should get 11M/per. Where I think a line needs to be drawn with this position is with term. 35+ goalies holding down a premier spot in the league are very rare. They are also more prone to injury and wear and tear, especially now that just about everyone is butterfly.

They already offered a one year deal to Swayman and he did more than asked. Also was the best Bruin in the playoffs. Signing him to an 8 year deal that locks him in 26-34 makes a lot of sense to me.
The Bruins made their bed with these struggling talks without locking Swayman in pre-Ullmark trade.

It's not just his politics. It's also his general attitude. He's a loudmouthed bully known for aggravating his own teammates to the point they get in fights with him. We've all met guys like that. They aren't great for anyone. Unless Deangelo is putting up higher end offensive numbers he's a net negative to whatever team he's on.
He looked awful in Carolina last playoffs. I watched a lot of their games, and the only time I remember him doing anything was when when he took a dumb retaliation penalty that almost cost his team the game.
There are many conservative NHL players, as many come from small towns. This wasn't a conservative witch hunt.

In fact I'd saw the default assumption is that NHL players are conservative. At least the NA ones.

I tend to agree with you.
8 x $8M seems like a pretty fair deal for both sides.
But Boston seems to disagree with that and it's going to be tough to get an 8 year deal if they aren't willing to come up to $8M.

For sure. I don't think it's as extreme as baseball, but there are a lot of conservative NHL players.
Bobby Orr was pro-Trump:
