Yah, honestly, for all the gripping, I didn't end up watering my lawn even once this year, and the grass is looking as green as ever. I guess lesson learned, I don't actually need to water it that much, and just make sure i don't mow it too often (2 birds with one stone, score!)

Honestly? I completely agree.
Not once did I find the water restrictions onerous in any capacity.
- Dont run your dishwasher until it's full....I already do that.
- Minimize Laundry....I hate laundry so I already wait until I have a full load.
- Keep showers short...no problem.
- Flushing? I cant say I kept track.
- No outdoor watering? No problem.
I think the only thing that was a slightly inconvenient is that I drink a lot of water during the day.
So I got a bunch of water bottles, I fill them up from the water cooler of bottled water at my office and just bring them home instead of filling them from the filtered fridge water.
Simple. And it works well because I got all of the bottled water at my office before the Main broke. So its all 'pre-emergency' water! Ah ha!

I skipped some days of showers, that's about it.
Normally I water some trees from time to time - but haven't once done that this year - and the trees are doing great.

A few of my plants dried up and stopped growing, but nothing I truly cared about. Knowing history though, they may return next year. Weeds grew crazy in my flower beds though.
I did avoid planting new stuff this summer since I wouldn't be able to flood them to get them established. Some new stuff started growing that wasn't there before and now I think I might not even have to buy something to replace the pine trees I ripped out of my flower bed. Some type of bush has suckered into the one spot and some type of small crawler plant has started growing in the other.
I saw someone do that yesterday. No idea what they were doing. They looked like they were spraying the same spot for half an hour and watching the water drip down the drive way.
I'm going to power wash my sidewalk (algae on one side and dirt/sidewalk chalk on the other side). Plus I want to finally test out the dang gutter cleaner attachment for the power washer for my super clogged up down spouts.

My neighbor was hosing off her driveway today too. My lawn is as thick and green as ever, with such a hot and dry July and no watering on my part. Surprising.

Navy showers are my new SOP. Once I started doing these I realized how much liquid body wash was going directly down the drain. Now, one squirt from the bottle is all I need to do the entire body (sans legs, of course).
It would be an overall win if there is a permanent reduction per user.
I am glad that people are finally coming around to the superiority of the navy shower. I was mocked for the mere suggestion that turning off the water pre-scrubbing.
Well I wouldnt say 'watering' but I wash my driveway once a year. You accumulate a lot of road gravel and, if you have kids with...less than reliable vehicles, some stains and such.
I just didn't do it this year.

I'm not gonna let the Navy tell me how to do anything.
