Glad that the Flames training camp is looking competitive.
Tough to judge these games since it looked like lots of the Kraken were only going through thr motions.

I read an article in the SUN from earlier today where Huska was asked over the weekend the question of who has caught his eye among the rookies- his answer was Brzustewicz, who he compared to a young Rasmus Andersson...

Bru will be on the Wranglers for sure this season. He will get way more minutes that way.

Wouldn't that be something if we got Rasmus and Rasmus 2.0 both from the Canucks.

Chuck Kobasew taught me a lesson. Don't trust training camps.

Nah, it happens on the radio feed too. You can always tell a goal by the crowd reaction, and then half a second later Wills comes in.

This is pretty much what I would like to see, with the bold being the standard lineup guys, and Coronato and Pelletier in the 'rotation' spots.
Klapka, Stromgren, Rooney, Hunt, and Morton could all see some time in those two spots as well.

My notes on the game:
Pelletier-Rooney-Hunt line did their job well. They were deployed as a checking line and neutralized Seattles top line and busted up the rush and the cycle well.
Coronato was the best player for Calgary. Last year he found soft spots and chipped in a couple goals but he was creating offense on his own this game. Good sign for his development.
Other Fs I thought had a good game: Honzek looks like he will make tons of sneaky good plays. He doesn't have the flash but he has a strong frame and he does well on the boards and crashes the net every chance he gets.
Klapka, while I love the goals, I don't see him making it far in the NHL. His skating just isn't up to par with the NHL standard.
Lots to like from the defense. Brz, Grushnikov, Pachal all had standout performances. Bean not noticeable in a good way. Poirier I thought struggled a bit with his ice time but made up for it on the score sheet, he will need to consistently do that to lock down a spot as he looked weaking defending the rush and the cycle.
Parkeh played a little too much on the fringes for my liking, but when he has the puck the talent is obvious. Wouldn't call it a bad game but he didn't have as positive an impression as some of the older D prospects.
Nothing much to say about Wolf, made huge saves and looked extremely comfortable.

How dare you disparage the legend of Ty Hattie.

I know, different era so can't compare directly, but I think of a guy like Mike Knuble. Big guy who couldn't skate, but managed to be a contributor by parking himself in front of the net and banging in rebounds.
Obviously I wouldn't expect a career like that (1000+ games and 500+ points), but I think there could still be a niche for that kind of player. At least that is my hope, because I am really rooting for him even if he is still a long shot.

He could also work with our skating coach to work on some of his deficiencies. Hard to say how that would progress, but couldn't hurt.

His game wasn't perfect, he needs to work on things, but I liked what I saw from Parekh. He's going to be a player. Unless he has stronger showings in camp he will go back to Jr and work on his game and dominate. We'll be very happy with him.

True, you can't get too high on players because they excel in preseason, but on the flip side, you can't dismiss a player because they don't impress in preseason. It's still always better to impress than not to of course.
I had pretty high hopes for Kobasew. I loved his attitude and energy. I still can't help but think player development was an issue back then with some of the prospects. He also seemed to really take a step back after the concussion.

Hopefully he tracks similarly to Brz in his development this year.

BRZ looked dang good! Wouldn't it be great if we have Brz and Parekh reminding us of the days when we had Suter and MacInnis? (obviously without the huge cannon)
