"There's no cap on hockey ops"
"We want to be best in class in every area"
"We have the best owner in hockey willing who is willing to spend the resources to become the best"
These are the types of things we are hearing out of Edmonton right now.
Calgary scouting staff -21
Oilers scouting staff -14
Calgary player development staff -6
Oilers player development staff -1? Doesn't list it on their site... Up to 3 from what I can find. Must not be very important.

It's not about how many in Edmonton, it's that you pay them more and that is why they're better.

Kane out until January or February after surgery. You have to figure they are frantically working on ideas to keep him out all year.

You'd think a player who was a competitor known he has an injury in June would want surgery ASAP so he could be back sooner the next season.
Kane instead waits until camp starts. Therefore he gets a summer relaxing and golfing and hitting up the bars and clubs instead of rehab, and then can play half a season for full pay.
Make no mistake, the Oilers fully supported and very likely encouraged this behavior and timeline, to get the desperately needed LTIR for a bunch of months, but Kane unlike most professional players who would push to play, isn't going to turn down half a year of free pay, given his demonstrated attitude, and, court ordered financial issues.
Just scum player, cheap move, as part of a scum organization. The hope to most neutrals is that when he's plunked back in the lineup, he gets back to his old posionus ways.

A quick phone call to some Vegas Casinos and he'll be out all year with "injuries related to a ball-peen hammer."
Problem. Solved.

You just know we'll be hearing rumours of a "significant setback to recovery" by the end of November.

Gee, it's only their first game of the pre season but already the Oilers are getting a team that played yesterday. Some things never change.

I haven’t looked at the schedule, but I fully expect them to get the usual soft treatment with lots of games against tired teams on back-to-backs and backup goalies and 3rd stringers. Team of destiny!

Team Embarrasment…… every scumbug available and straight lie and cheat. Oilers are the black eye of the NHL.

Making your fans pay for the young stars (even though it isn't your stream) and making them pay for Preseason games. That is no good.

First of all, yes - Edmonton is no good.
But I have to say, I would be happy to see the Flames create a service whereby we could get any and all games (in 4K please) for a nominal subscription service. It seems like every game there are people complaining that they can't get a feed.
Heaven forbid they give their fans what they are begging for.

It appears that Jeff "best acquisition of the NHL offseason" Skinner will be making his Oilers debut this evening at the 'Dome. Thought I'd check out capwages.com to refresh on the buyout scenario with Buffalo...
He was due for a $9M cap hit, since he was bought out, he's at a $1.44M cap hit.
Buffalo currently has $7.92 in cap space.
$1.44M + $7.92M = $9.36M.
So the Sabres could clearly play with their current roster, with the inclusion of Jeff Skinner, but felt this was a case of addition by subtraction.
E = NG

I believe he's talking about a streaming service for the regular season.
