I bought Dr Pepper for the first time in a long time and it tastes really bland now. Maybe I'm misremembering but I thought it had a really bold, unique, kinda spicy flavour. Have they changed the formula to try to make it appeal to a larger demographic?

When was the last time you had Dr Pepper? I don't recall it ever having a kick to it. It always tasted somewhat like cherry cola to me.

The only North American soft drink I can think of that perhaps had a kick to it about 2 decades ago perhaps was root beer because of those Barq's has bite commercials. I recall A&W and Mug's was very sweet in comparison and Barq's was a lot more peppery or carbonated or something.

Probably around twenty years although I may have had a few bottles during those years and not remembered. There are a lot of things that I like but almost never purchase such as Mountain Dew and Starburst and other junk foods.

I didn't prefer Dr Pepper when I was younger to things like root beer and Cola/Pepsi, but I don't mind it lately. I don't know if this is part of a pattern where I've also started being OK with gin and absinthe.

Mountain dew I loved as a kid. Lately, I like it, but I'm not wild about it. I do notice that if I see it at a fountain pop station that I always see if I can mix it up with some form of iced tea. Mountain dew/Sprite/7up + iced tea ends up being some kind of poor man's Arnold Palmer that I prefer over any of those beverages straight up.

I’ve never noticed this slight hum my truck makes before in 4x4. It has 115k on it and both differentials have been serviced in the last year, makes me worried it’s a bigger issue. I have had an outboard bearing seize on my front passenger side last year and it’s since been repaired.

I get a slight increase in tone and “feel”. Barely noticeable but it’s there

Someone on Reddit once described Dr. Pepper as 'BBQ-flavoured Coke' and I think about that often

Dr Pepper is fantastic on a hot day. If cold beer is not an option.

I kept seeing videos of people pouring amaretto into the neck of a light beer and saying it tastes like Dr Pepper. No idea if it's true. But I'm not interested in trying it out.

That sounds revolting and likely to end in requiring the assistance of a real Doctor.

Hmm... now I'm being reminded of the Strawberries and cream Dr Pepper. That one was surprisingly decent IIRC.

Light beer + amaretto.

There are quite a few combos like that. A bit nicer than the average bottle of corona or whatever.

Hmm... I feel like someone needs to start making this mixture, hitting the top of the beer bottle, and then attempting to down the concoction as it begins to foam over. Then.. getting others to do the same.

Have you never had a Dr Pepper?

- pint of beer
- splash of coke
- shot of amaretto

You drop the shot it in the beer/coke, then neck it all right away.

Similar mechanics as an Irish Car Bomb.
