Good for him I guess.

Will never been forgiven for Anaheim.

All that talk of that 14/15 Flames teams and its crazy how many guys fizzled out pretty the season after. 1-2 lackluster seasons and out the league.

Hulder
Wideman
Coloborne
Glencross
Jones
Bouma
Jooris
Raymond
Bollig
The goalies as well. Both Hiller, and Ramo looked quite good.

Hudler really struggled with his back injury. Glencross didn't want to sign a PTO, after a deal fell through. Wideman did himself in with cross checking an official.

Didn't the Flames also have McGratten and O'Brien riding busses in the AHL around that time?

Glencross and Russell got traded the next season at the deadline. Glencross was out of the league after that.

Correct about the goalies and McGrattan. We can add Drew Shore to the list. Crazy the amount of players that turned into pumpkins and out the league soon after.

That glenncross trade was amazing, I wish Brad had done more of that early in the rebuild instead of making "final contender" trades and ufa signings as soon as we had a surprise outlier playoff season.

Flyers writers keep linking the Flames as the best landing spot for Kolosov:

https://phillyhockeynow.com/2024/09/...lexei-kolosov/

Quote:
All signs (fingers?) point to a Flyers trade with the Calgary Flames. Why?

Let’s connect the dots.

Alexei Kolosov recently changed his representation, switching from J.P. Barry to Dan Milstein. Milstein represents Belarusian forward Yegor Sharangovich and Russian sniper Andrei Kuzmenko, both of whom arrived in Calgary in the last 15 months.

Oh, and Ilya Solovyov, a restricted free agent, plays for Calgary, too.

The only player blocking Kolosov from NHL playing time is Flames goalie Dan Vladar, who was nearly traded last season. Vladar, 27, has one year remaining on his contract at a $2.2 million cap hit as the Flames seek to give the keys to the car to top prospect Dustin Wolf.

Calgary isn’t exactly in a full-fledged rebuild yet, but at some point, they have to start tearing down the drywall. A potential Flyers trade would give them a nice, youthful one-two punch of Wolf and Kolosov in goal.

And who knows? Maybe Milstein will facilitate the KHL loan Kolosov wants while Calgary rides out the season with Vladar.

On paper, the Flames appear to be the best fit for the Flyers prospect at this time.

That'd be an interesting stable.

Vladar, Wolf, Kolosov, Ignatjew. Plus the other 3 goalies in various spots around the NCAA and Russia

Not sure what Kolosov is looking for, though. Neither Ersson nor Fedotov are established in Philly; he's got as good a chance there as getting starts as anywhere.

Fedotov is the Flyers guy for sure. They're going to hang everything on him panning out.

Kolosov has zero NHL games. I wouldn't give up much at all for him. Plus, if he replaced Vladar, I don't like the idea of having 2 smallish goalies.

I'm also not as down on Vladar as some. I think there is still untapped potential with him.

Don't forget about Cooley.

From the article quoted above:

Exsqueeze me?!

Since opening night last season, the Flames have shipped out the following players:

Dillon Dube
Dennis Gilbert
A. J. Greer
Noah Hanifin
Oliver Kylington
Elias Lindholm
Andrew Mangiapane
Jacob Markstrom
Jordan Oesterle
Adam Ruzicka
Chris Tanev
Nikita Zadorov

The team had 22 active players on the opening-night roster last October, plus three on IR. Twelve of those 25 are now gone – 48%. That includes their starting goalie, 4 of the top 6 D, and a pair of top-6 forwards.

If a team that trades, waives, or releases half its players in twelve months isn't rebuilding, then who the hell is?

I have a hard time seeing a team that sent out

Lindholm
Markstrom
Mangiapane
Hanifin
Tanev
Zadorov

And brought in the following guys to replace them

Kuzmenko
Mantha
Wolf
Bahl
Miromanov
Pachal

I have hard time seeing that team make such an improvement on last years result.
Frank didn’t seem to know about the ####storm that could erupt if we finish better than top 10.

So we are being linked to a goalie we don’t need because Conory has had good dealing with his agent.

Some top reporting.

I'm still pretty convinced that the Flames will finish 6th last, or at least pick at #6 overall. It's what they tend to do when they "retool". They'll probably be 29th, then go 7-3-0 in their last 10, then finish 27th. Then people will argue about them winning too much.

The Flames almost never finish worse than this (except when they picked Bennett), and they probably won't finish much better - especially if Andersson, Kuzmenko, and Mantha are all eventually traded.

I was wondering why I'd never heard of this Kolosov guy, then I looked up his stats page and found out.

Pretty mediocre results

Is it just me, or is the Flyers' blogosphere way higher on Kolosov than his results warrant?

I suggested Okhotiuk for Kolosov on Flamesnation lol.

I don't understand why the Flames would be fishing for a Goalie right now, let's see what they have already.
