Can you imagine walking that out without discussing powerplay time, the fact that the Oilers use only one unit, and that the players coming in won't get the same ice time and situations?
Insanity.
But found his twitter post when he launched the article.
Feedback was basically ... add Bouchard to the list, and can the Oilers break the most 30 goal scorers record from 40 years ago.
How can a fanbase stay grounded when they're fed dribble like this?
it would be much easier to just say, wow I could see the Oilers with 4 30 goal guys , maybe 5 if everything breaks well or someone gets on a shooting percentage heater- that is grounded in some sort of reality (but still super optimistic), but no its 7 or 8
McDavid and Draisaitl as locks if healthy? sure
Hyman- yeah probably , heck of a player but hard to say a lock. Loob went from the only 50 goal Swede to high 20s (in a still really succesful cup year)
Bouchard? well maybe- there have been 2 30 goal D in the last 35 years. MacInnis never did it. Could Bouchard- yes but that would mean less PP tip ins or redirects by forwards
One of Skinner, Arvidsson, Kane, Nuge? fine- Skinner seems most likely. Nuge is in this 30s and did it once- whichever guy plays shot gun with McDavid and is the 4th forward with Hyman and the wonder twins on the PP yes, but somehow to picture that whichever of Kane, Skinner or Arvidsson ends up on the 3rd line with Henrique and Connor Brown is going to score 30 with no PP time ? I don't think so
Man, I feel like I've seen enough Oilers. Bouchard pushing 11M? How does that even make sense? I can't remember even noticing him on the ice. Maybe I'm way out to lunch but I don't see anything from him that tells me he's a franchise level man worth anymore than 4-6M.

Exactly. And from the Darnell nurse school of accounting, $11 million is a discount to play with glitter twins as we have been told.

If you're his agent though you are saying:
He was point per game in the regular season, and had 32 points in 25 playoff games.
His regular season was the 9th highest point total by a d-man since the lockout, and his 32 playoff points is the highest by a dman since the 03-04 lockout.
If I am his agent I am saying that his performance is just as impressive/important as Draisaitl's.
If he's locking up for 8 years that means he is covering his 26-33 year old seasons which is his prime and best chance at a big payday. If I'm him I'd be pointing at the Dahlin contract as what I want at the bare minimum, same age as Dahlin, same draft year, and he'd be arguing he's the better player. Dahlin starts his $11 x 8 this season.

Hmm. I'll admit I've paid less and less attention to new up and comers in recent years, but if you're on my team making 8+ million, you better be making a noticeable difference in team fortunes. I guess he's never stood out to me like that but those are pretty stellar totals. How many are points are PP 2nd assists where its Drai from McD and ___?
Did the Oilers win the Cup? The media sure seems to think so with the way they talk about them and constantly pump their tires. It’s gonna be so fun watching them fail again this year. The meltdowns from the clowns at SN and the rest of the hockey media will be glorious.

Bouchard actually does contribute a bit, which he has to in order to make up for his inept defensive skills. He's not Zach Hyman...
