NOBODY expects their Cruise Ship to be torpedoed in open water by an antique U-Boat! Its brilliant!
Hit them right at Dinner Service so they can't escape!
Try and save the crew though. They're generally nice people.

You think they would, ever since the Lusitania

I get them all. Amazon charges on the credit card the duct cleaning crap.
I always push the 1 or two to talk to someone then try to fit in the most vile insults in 3 seconds prior to them hanging up or yelling fata you in a funny accent.

Oh, I guess I got a call a few hours ago from someone who sounded like they were in an Indian call centre Zeppelin telling me they were calling from Telus with an offer. So the scam offerings are improving.
There's a cacophony of mumbled call centre sounds, something that sounds like heavy machinery and buzzing in the background. "No thank you." and hang up.
Any why try to piss them off on purpose? I still kinda chuckle at Sliver's cautionary story about the air horn but I'm sure Sliver wasn't too enthusiastic about the couple of weeks that he kept getting phone calls from different spoof numbers.

If someone records you while the anaesthesia wears off after surgery and puts it on YouTube you should be able to murder them legally.

There’s a difference between scam calls and call centre calls. There are legit companies, including the telecoms, that will use call centres to try and get you to sign up for more ####. And then there are the ones just trying to steal your information.
If you get a weird call from someone with a heavy accent that sounds like they’re driving with the windows down offering you a discount on home services as a loyal Telus customer? Yeah, that’s actually just how bad Telus (and all of them, honestly) have become.

Maybe instead of answering I should let voicemail take it; legit caller leaves a message and I call back?

It RGMG that a payment that has been recurring out of the same account to the same business for 15 years without a problem is now "potentially fraudulent" after having been caught in my banks "new, enhanced anti-fraud measures", and I've been arguing with the bank all frikkin' day about it, as I keeps getting bounced back and forth between departments.

True. Except he said my telus services were coming up for renewal... I haven't used telus for anything in over 20 years.
Maybe it was a legit call centre agent accidentally mixing up renewal vs asking me to jump ship prior to renewal, but the wording and context in the moment felt off to me.

a few years back I strung some call-center with a strong accent along pretty good... they were persistent and quite timely... very good at holding appointments I'd set for them. Eventually I figured out they were legit representing Telus. End story was got a multi-year unbelievable family plan with all the bells and whistles for what most people pay for a single person plan. And no scam. (that's a different story...)

I've always wanted my phone to instantly google the phone number as I wait to answer. Sometimes I will recognize it, quickly google it, see its the diabetes association then feel proud I did not answer.

Yeah, when it first answers it asks for who it is and why they are calling. If they respond it gives some more options for either probing deeper or telling them to call back later. It is kind of like with the messaging apps where it gives you options for pre-determined responses.
