I've been thinking about Pospisil at center with Huberdeau over the last little bit.

If there is a player that drives the center of the ice and plays with a bit of that recklessness that Bennett does....it's Pospisil.

This is easily a bottom 5 roster. Maybe bottom 1

I like it

Doubt it, they are bottom 10, I can't see any chance they are last unless they won the draft lottery

Flames still have quality forwards,

Challenge is not forwards its defense and goaltending

So that possibly leaves Kuzmenko-Kadri-Coronato as another option?

The only way I see this team finishing bottom 5 is if the goalies #### the bed.

Line wise I'm betting we see a lot of wackiness the first few games. Can't wait!

Can't see Sharangovich on the 4th line? I would assume he would be on that line

no its not, I'm guessing you haven't looked at many other rosters. Flames forwards are actually decent.

D and goaltending is a bigger question mark. Now if they have a major sell off then maybe.

Certainly possible though. The D in front of them is lacking and you've got a career backup and a rookie.

I've thought for a while now that Bennett is what Pospisil could be, if he reaches his potential

Sorry yeah I meant the entire roster. Just looked at it for the first time in a while. Imo this team could finish last. Will they? Probably not - but there’s definitely a path there.

Yes it's certainly possible.

Especially in the highly likely scenario where they sell at the deadline and possibly lose some key scorers.

Ok, with this premise in mind:

Huberdeau-Pospisil-Mantha
Zary-Backlund-Coleman

I could see the next lines being:
Kuzmenko - Kadri - Sharongovich
Pelletier - Rooney - Lomberg
Klapka

I posted those combos in the opening night prediction thread. Pospisil looked good at center for the Slovaks at the OCQ and WC this year.

Trying him there instead of Sharangovich makes a ton of sense on paper given the makeup of the current roster. Hopefully those two combos work well on the ice so that the Flames have two solid scoring lines.

Where do you think they land, dino? I'm thinking it's not far off from bottom 5, maybe 5-8th last. Better than CHI, ANA, SJS, CBJ, BUF and maybe MTL.

If the Sabres finish in the bottom 5, let alone below the Flames, there will be riots in Buffalo.

I weirdly want to see that Pelletier/Rooney/Lomberg line. That could be a lot fun to watch.

I could see this but am curious where Coronato fits then

He was doing some extra skating work with Danielle Fujita in the summer (as was Solovyov, btw)

Hmmm. Really thought they would keep the Kuzmenko - kadri - pospisil line together. They had great chemistry at end of season. Granted nothing is set in stone yet. You can also put me in the camp that thinks we have a bottom 5 team. Our D is putrid.
