Default What Is The Best Hockey Stick

After a couple of years of Penny Pinching I am finally going to pick up a new twig to start beer league season. The last stick I bought was the cheapest Senior composite, a Bauer Viper. It's been 14 years since I have cared enough to keep up with what technology is out there.

I'd love some suggestions for sticks under $300 and good stores for sports gear in the NW.

Feel free to talk about other sticks from history that you love.

It's been years since I cared to buy a good stick, but Bauer Supreme for me was always the best.

Best way to get a good stick price wise is to hit the last year's bin at the sports store and try out a few that were $300+ and now are more in the $200-250 range. But you may have to hunt because if you're spending that type of money on a stick you're going to hit things with, don't let it be a "meh this one will do" purchase.

Sticks are far too expensive.

Is the best method always to try out a teammates' stick in warm up, when deciding which hockey stick purchase to copy?

I was thinking about going to taking some shots at pro hockey life at Mallzac or is that a trap?

I order the pro customs from hockeystickman and I think the value is excellent. I've got two and the first one has lasted me 2 seasons and counting.

Agreed. I'll say the top tier sticks do feel a step above in quality compared to the $150 range which are a good level above the $70 range. I had a custom pro-quality stick once from a GFs brother and the difference was incredible.

That said, does it matter for your personal game and stakes? Probably not. Really, the only players who actually need to use that equipment are elite players 14+.

Check out the new Source For Sports in Northland Village. Good selection of equipment and they also have a shooting cage to try sticks out. As others have mentioned if you can find last years models there can be good value there.

Adrenalin Source for Sports Mcleod is the best. Say your kid plays at one of the local teams for a discount. The owner's kid was a Calgary Royal, so say its for your kid playing Midget AAA.

The Sherwood Senior 9950! Man, the crosschecks you could delivery with that thing. And almost indestructible. Good luck standing in front of the net when the puck comes off of that thing. A beauty.

Step 1: Go try out CCM Jetspeed sticks, find the curve and lie that produces the best quality shots in the shot room.

Step 2: Wait for Pro Hockey life to have a huge sale on this years model (usually 4- 5 times a year - black friday/boxing day being locks) or wait until teh new model is coming out and get last years for half price.

Jetspeed is a $400 stick, but easily acquired for $200 through the above methods. Easily the best stick out there right now. Teammates had them and swore they were much better, I was like "yeah, yeah, yeah, it's a stick". Picked one up and my snap shots were suddenly lasers, top corner with little effort. First time since I was young that could actually nail and control and one time, slap shot.

I will never spend more than $150 on a stick. I usually wait til previous year's sticks go on sale and i get $250-300 ones for 100-150.

I've used Warriors for the better part of 15 years, and I've loved them.

Recently got a line on $150 Bauer Protos, and holy crap. I'm not going back now. lol. But i will never pay $450 for them retail. I just picked up 6 of them at $150 and hopefully won't break one anytime soon

This is the answer. BASE hockey used to me my go too, but they went under. PHSMan and the pro black out extra lite.
