I believe in the Jays.

We battled hard, but that loss likely puts Forge out of our reach for the regular season. Our lack of goals from open play continues to be a problem this season.

I understood Tommy's decision to try a more mobile option up front with Wähling instead of Lowell Wright but I would have liked to see us put Wright in earlier when it was clear that Kamdem was struggling to create offence on the left side. Overall, I think Wähling wide left and Wright as a striker is more effective than Kamdem out wide and Wähling as a striker.
I thought Aird and Shome were our best players today. Clearly we need to get healthy heading into the playoffs. 1st place is almost certainly out of reach now but getting up to 2nd or 3rd is key. 4th place is a tough road to the final as you have to play midweek and then travel 2 or 3 days later to play away from home. 3rd place at least gives us that home QF game to get into the 2nd semi final.
At our best, we are definitely contenders to win the playoffs but it's gonna require us having something reasonably close to our best 11. We definitely have some depth issues in certain positions that I'm hoping will be addressed in the off season. We used to have so many wide attacking players but are thin in that area now as well as at striker. I also think we need to add another CB and RB/LB option. Haha, I've listed pretty much every position

Yup, have to think the shield is out of reach with a 7 point gap to make up in 6 games.

That was unfortunately one of Camargo's most abysmal performances. We're back to being thin in the midfield and need a lot more out of him.
Harms looked surprisingly great, it seems he's been developing well despite the lack of playing time.

Per a recent article in Business Calgary magazine, Cavalry have around 2700 season tickets.

Camargo just isn’t going to give us much offensively. Unfortunately he’s not that player despite me thinking he is. His most prolific year (in the league) was 2019 with 6 goals and 3 assists, goal involvement every 140 minute (awesome btw). Last year he was every 206 minutes. This year he’s a goal involvement every 266 minutes. For reference, Kyle Bekker, whom we would all agree is not as offensive as Camargo, had a goal involvement every 194 minutes last year, 226 this year. I know there are many factors that go into whether or not a chance goes in but the stats aren't that kind to Camargo in this regard.
Musse and Warschiewski are both around 166/168 minutes/goal involvement in the league this year, which is pretty close to their career CPL averages.
All my calcs are solely based on CPL league play, not Can Champ or CCC.
If anyone knows where xG can be reliably found for CPL games let me know. I'd love to mess around with those numbers too as I think they are more telling of a players actual contribution to a game than strictly Goals + Assists.

xG? They don't even have VAR. Klomp was about five feet inside the box when the penalty was taken on Saturday, scored on the rebound, and somehow the goal stood.

Believe it or not it is a lot easier to find nerds like me and a computer algorithm to compute xG than millions to put VAR in place. It already exists, I just don’t know where to find breakdowns of it

Herdman will give us another U-21 Canadian striker in addition to Wright and Chanda. My guess is that Wright may not see the pitch very much these last few games. The fact that he didn't start against Forge when he and Chanda were the only striking options isn't a good sign for him. I like his profile but his mobility/fitness has been an issue. He just hasn't been effective enough.

Great resilience to comeback twice and get the draw but it feels like two points dropped at home again. They let five foot nothing Manny Aparicio score on a header (??????) and Aird was way too passive defending the second goal
But man, what a goal by Musse!

That defensive gap by Aird on the 2nd Atletico goal was abysmal. Just left him wide open. That's not like Aird, which makes me think he was expecting Kamdem to hustle back in time.
I think we're going to make the playoffs, but the shield is definitely slipping away unfortunately.

I think we've got a strong shot at third. Maybe second. Looking at the remaining schedule we have York away next week and then the bottom four teams in the last four games. Not too bad.
York has Cavalry (H), Forge (A), Atletico (H) as their next three games. Good chance they will drop some points. Atletico Ottawa also has away games against Forge and York left.

Cavalry Trivia time!
Can you name the top ten goal scorers in Cavalry FC history across all competitions (excluding friendlies)? Top of the list has 22 goals, number 10 has 8 if that helps at all.

I can tell that Cavalry is becoming more popular by the fact that the tickets I put up for resale actually get picked up.

Klomp has 17, so he's tied for #4 on the list.
