All players are "injury prone." It's the nature of the game.

Backlund early on seemed that way and he turned out okay. I think he wears a

I would rather take a shot at a 3rd or another reclamation project than Pelletier playing 25% of the season on the 4th line and getting hurt and being worth nothing. We would also be investing ice time in a guy that wont be here long term and there is a log jam at LW.

What are you hoping happens? He plays his way off the 4th line and gets sheltered minutes with Backlund that would be better suited for someone else?

Why wouldn't Pelletier be in Calgary long term if he turns his game around? He's young enough to be part of the post rebuild team.

If they're fragile then I think he should be wearing shoulder pads.... I speak from experience.

I would... he was back on the ice at the end of the year so he doesn't need conditioning and I think he get's claimed if they put him on waivers.

Just put him in Mangiapane's old spot alongside Backs and Coleman and I bet he'll shine as a responsible two way forward.

I still actually really like Pelletier. I think he will be a great Flame down the road, and probably part of the leadership group. I think he earns a spot and shows that he is now an NHL'er. No way he gets through waivers unclaimed, so I doubt the Flames risk it.

He lives up to his promise that saw him be a point per game player in the AHL in his first two pro seasons and he becomes a dependable middle 6 forward for us.

There is no reason to think he can't be here long term, or just assuming he's going to miss 75% of the games this season.

Prospects don't always progress in a linear fashion. He looked like a pretty effective player in the NHL in his first year. He was definitely snake bitten, but he was getting a lot of changes.

Whichever line he played on had energy, and seemed to always play with pace.

As far as the AHL, I thought he showed better offensive instincts than Zary while they were both there. I don't think that Pelletier taking a step back last year is indicative of anything, except that he needed more time to get his game back after his injuries.

I think you're giving up on the guy too quickly. Should we cut bait with Poirier too, after his terrible injury? Maybe we should've gotten rid of Pospisil a couple of seasons ago, when concussions became an issue.

Pelletier’s stats in the AHL have been very good, it’s injuries that have stalled him.

He’s playing with the Flames for sure, as he would get claimed on waivers.

The flames have zero reason to risk him on waivers. They consider him a ligitamite prospect.

Default Flames sign Pelletier (1 year, $800k NHL)

One key to his success: staying healthy.

It would be awesome to see that be added about 10 pounds of muscle in the offseason.
