Prospects don't always progress in a linear fashion. He looked like a pretty effective player in the NHL in his first year. He was definitely snake bitten, but he was getting a lot of changes.
Whichever line he played on had energy, and seemed to always play with pace.
As far as the AHL, I thought he showed better offensive instincts than Zary while they were both there. I don't think that Pelletier taking a step back last year is indicative of anything, except that he needed more time to get his game back after his injuries.
I think you're giving up on the guy too quickly. Should we cut bait with Poirier too, after his terrible injury? Maybe we should've gotten rid of Pospisil a couple of seasons ago, when concussions became an issue.
