Kind of like how Makar was paired with a combination of Girard, Cole, and Barrie when he entered the league instead of being throw to the wolves to handle his own pairing with another rookie or really terrible journeyman defensive dman.

Andersson wouldn't be that guy for Parekh though IMO. Both RH shots and don't see either shifting to their offside, and Andersson doesn't play a safe enough game.

If there is a player you'd pair with Parekh it would be Bahl IMO.

Bigger, more physical, can help protect him, and plays a very safe defensive game which allows Parekh to take more risk.

Also makes it a bit easier to shelter the two of them compared to a Weegar or Andersson who you'd want taking the tougher matchups.

I'd be really happy with an equivalent package to what Sergachev got for Rasmus.

Getting a center prospect of the same Caliber as Geekie in a Rasmus deal would be about as good as you could hope for.

Not sure if Rasmus holds the same value, given age/contract status.

IMO Bahl is potentially already a perfect partner waiting in the wings for Parekh. Big, mobile, LHD who plays a d-first game. Also, seems to have some personal life parallels to Parekh and perhaps could build easy rapport with him off the ice.

I don't think we can really expect a geekie move for Rasmus. Agree that Hronek type return is more likely. In any case, the TB return is definitely not enough.

I still like Detroit as a possibility.

Is Detroit really going to pony up though when they’ve got Seider to worry about?

Yeah, Bahl and Grushnikov both look like tailor-made partners for Parekh.

One for Parekh, and one for Brzustewicz, and the D core could be set for a decade

I can't help but think Nashville would be a good trading partner. They made some pretty big moves this summer and look like they want to enter a window of contention. They aren't completely capped out with ~1.5 million in cap space. A trade could easily work with some salary retention, or taking back some salary (or both).

They also have three 1st rounders in 2025, pretty decent prospect pool, and a couple players that I am sure they wouldn't mind finding a place to dump their cap.

Has anything been announced about how the league is going to handle the Columbus cap situation this season?

Right now, Puckpedia is showing them about $2.7 million under the floor with a 22-man roster and Johnny's cap removed. They don't have any players under contract that could get them to the floor with a 23-man roster.

Will the league give them an exemption from the floor this season due to tragically unexpected circumstances, or are they going to be forced to acquire one or more players to get them to the floor before the start of the season?

Detroit, Ottawa, Tampa, Winnipeg, Buffalo....honestly there's no shortage of teams that will be vying for Razzs services

My only hope is that his trade is the one trade Conroy gets his under 23 year old Center.

Can't imagine it'd be too difficult to make some waiver claims before the season starts at worst

I always thought Andersson going to NSH would be a pretty good fit.

NSH could send us Schenn + Scissons + Wood/Molendyk + Tomasino/Parsinen

They could but why would they give up that much?

It's two-fold. You have a player like Andersson to pair with Parekh at some parts of the season/game, plus you have Andersson to pair with Weegar to take the hard match-ups so that Parekh doesn't get over-exposed at other parts of the season/game

My point is that the Flames are so thin on defense with their two NHL defensemen, that keeping Andersson is a necessity unless the Flames can trade-up like Yotes did to get Sergachev.

We're seeing it with the Ducks too, where they at least have a saavy, reliable veteran in Gudas and Fowler that they are partnering with their future star defensemen (Mintyukov and Zellweger) on a full-time basis to ease them into the league.

Because they could use Andersson rounding out their top 4 at $2.5M for the next 2 years, while dumping Scissons who's 30 making $2.86 x 2, and Schenn that's 34 and is making $2.75 x 2. If you don't think Scissons is a cap dump, then the trade works without him as well.

I think this makes them significantly better for the next 2 years during their window. I also think there will be a ton of interest in Andersson, and I value Tomasino around a 2nd.

I remember someone reporting that the Flames were pretty high on Teddy Stiga whom the Preds just drafted in the 2nd round, 55th OA (a steal IMO). Plus, I would want one the 1st rounders. They have their own, plus Tampa's and Vegas's in 2025.

Then if there is a cap dump or salary retention, another pick or prospect. Or maybe a young roster player like Parssinen or Tomasino.

I am not fine tuning it, so maybe other parts need to be added.

^ Don't know if the Flames were necessarily high on him but Jason Bukala from Sportsnet sure was and he would always suggest on his radio hits that the Flames take him.
