I fully believe this storm will eclipse Fort Mac.

Not to my knowledge. That remains in the medium-term plan but for now the priority is getting the existing gates open.

Seems like it's perfect for bugs too. I feel like I've had little concerns about mosquitoes this summer. Out for a ride this evening though... so many! I was not prepared.

So...on the news last night there was a guy from the Insurance Bureau of Canada spouting off on how the City should bring back the program where they subsidize the cost of hail resistant materials for houses.
I immediately thought...why don't insurance companies offer a discount for people who do so.
Do they ?
I have seamless steel siding on my house and its virtually hail proof.
I am also deep SE so out of the path of most major Hail storms.
Kind of infuriating how they expect someone else to do something they can probably do on a much larger scale.

Can someone help UCB with hibernation ideas? I don't think he's going to be tolerable once winter sets in.

This. Is. AWESOME!
I love it. Decent temperature, good, steady, non-torrential rain...
Perfect.

I used to live in a place with concrete board siding. If there was hail, it was pretty damn quiet vs stucco and other materials. But I guess good windows also help contribute for that. The builder said he didn't like how houses were getting closer to each other. He said that if a fire did happen, the concrete board should help to slow or stop the fire from spreading as fast as vinyl siding and certain types of other materials.
Roof wise, how many roofs are actually getting destroyed by hail? I've never seen it. Siding, absolutely. But roofs?
I do kinda want to use nicer roofing materials than asphalt when the time comes to upgrade the look and durability. I'm just not sure whether that means rubber or metal or aluminum or whatever. Hail proof solar tiles would probably be most ideal though.

I took my dog for a walk over lunch. Yeah, he's a little wet, but so what?
A little water never hurt anyone.

From seeing the damage this time around - this storm wasn't even close to as crazy as the 2020 storm.
But I suppose that a wall of siding that has a few holes in it needs to be completely replaced just as much as a wall of siding that no longer exists.

I don’t recall 2020 damaging a bunch of aircraft and terminals.
