8/10 homes in my neighborhood have a truck parked in their driveway. Cause it's too ####ing large to fit in a garage like a god damn ####ing normal car.

What setting is recommended if you like your small families extra crispy. Can you get them dark on one side like you could in a frying pan?

Convenience? Maybe it is works more efficiently to own a vehicle that is capable of doing things that you require it to do.
Nahhhh. #### it. Hire a bigger truck to have it delivered, by someone else.
|
I did a big renovation and put an addition on my last house while owning a Mini Cooper. I probably paid no more than total $500 in delivery fees for all the different things I needed a truck for. I think I rented a Uhaul van for a few hours to get a few things at Windsor Plywood one time. A lot cheaper than buying a big vehicle that I have no interest in trying to park at home and everywhere else every day.

*Raises hand as someone that actually had the smallest suitable family vehicle along the way, tried to buy a smaller vehicle and found that he actually needs one of the largest vehicles on the road*
This 'good for me but not for thee' attitude is hilarious... At least Pepsi's honest and can own up to his 'want'.
I will agree that it would drive me nuts if my street's driveways were littered with the trucks and SUVs that are too big to fit in garages... Such a trashy look.

oh man - i totally want to check out your neighbourhood to see all these trucks! it sounds awesome!
my one truck is lifted 7.5", the other is lifted 6". both sit on 33" tires and both fit in the garage no problem. the ones in your neighbourhood must be absolutely amazing!
**do i need 2 trucks - no, of course not... but i'm not getting rid of my '89. i love that truck and have had it almost 30 years. only got the 2014 truck becuz the '89 is a 2-seater and i now need to cart around 2 kids. once the kids can drive i'll be getting rid of the 2014.
but i will say this - i definitely do need a truck. 2-3 times every week i need the truck box for the space, a smaller vehicle just would not be feasible.
and no - i do not own white oakleys, truck nuts or 'bad boyz/tap out' shirts

I just think people should be able to own what they want as long as it's not harming anyone else

So you are against truck ownership then? Cause they are harming a lot of people.

I made the biggest, blackest set of truck nutz you ever did see and put them on my friend's truck. These things were meaty and filled with weighted beads so they hung real nice. Dude didn't notice for a few days, but I eventually just had to tell him because he's kind of a big shot and I was worried he was going to be seen by a colleague if I let it go on much longer.
Now those nuts get passed around our group like crazy. I'm always double checking to make sure they didn't end up on my truck again.

A lot of the personal light trucks are on the road, because people own RVs. You only have to look at the campsites around Southern Alberta/BC, and how busy they are, or the multitude of RV storage lots around the city. Most of those require at least a half-ton truck to move around.
Now you've paid 80K+ for a tow vehicle that isn't just going to sit parked all week. One of the members of the family will use this as the daily driver.

Well the problem there is somehow believing you need an RV to go camping.

RVs are not camping. Never were. It's just incredibly wasteful. IMO it is almost antithetical to the actual purpose of camping, which is to escape creature comforts/ society and to become more in tune with nature.

If you have Starlink on your RV, you can tune into Nature channel on your 65" TV. Just different ways of tuning in to nature, that's all.

I believe the correct term is "glamping".
It's "bougie".

This is such a dorky opinion.
I've tented. I've slept in my minivan (as a family of four). I've RV'd. They're all super fun.
Gatekeeping fun is such a nerdy thing to do.

Sure, it can be fun. It's just not camping. And if we're all ok with bringing creature comforts to nature, then why aren't we just building 5 more banffs in the mountains? It would probably be more efficient then everyone dragging their RVs in and out constantly.

I've been in a tent that got flooded in the rain due to oversight on the placement of tarps and where the water was accumulating to.
I've been in a tent on a night so cold, it started raining inside from condensation from our breathing.
I've been in a van with a mattress.
My friends are making a pretty good case for why I should consider buying a small fibre glass trailer.
It's not camping, it's glamping, but it's not a resort either. Glamping is a pretty solid middle ground. Plus with good friends with kids trying to convince me to go camping with, it'll be fun. Lots of great ideas I'd show the kids like playing with sparklers (vs poking fire with sticks as kids), glowstick poi, electric scooters and bikes for zipping around to grab water/go to the showers, ice cream cone smores, jiffy pop etc. I totally agree that adding those toys and activities is a lot of fun vs straight up slumming it out backpacker style.

Because that's neither camping nor glamping. That's renting.

I think it’s just the separation of a “need” and a “want.”
Almost nobody “needs” an RV. They are fun though. I hate tent camping

I don't even give a crap if it's fun or not.
What grinds my gears is every single long weekend that they're parked in the neighborhoods. Giant pieces of #### that make huge blind spots and it's like I'm driving in tiny European streets 2ft wide.
