It's baffling what's going on with these top level execs in major media companies. Multiple major companies just being run into the ground by baffling leadership decisions. Everything from Vice and Buzzfeed to Disney.

Its partially the Jack Welsh style of management that maximizes shareholder value over actual quality of the product, also that Zaslav is an idiot prioritizes his own work and who thinks that reality TV is king and is looking to kill everything that doesn't match that. He killed HBO's streaming in favor of Discovery streaming when HBO was doing much better previously.

Not sure if anyone has been following but GRRM has expressed some dissatisfaction with S2.

Today he posted comments surrounding Blood and Cheese (the son for a son episode where they kill helaena’s son). There are some spoilers for S3 so read at your own peril.

He said he’d also post about his thoughts on S2 as a whole at some point, which I imagine won’t be overly positive. He seems to be somewhat unhappy with the direction the show has taken and is headed. Not that it’s all negative, he did have some positive words in this blog post.

Anyways, here’s the most relevant quote about the future direction of the show

I have a feeling that he doesn't love that they are seemingly merging Rhaena and another character from the book.

edit: oh he doesn't mention that at all

Get a 404 on that link, HBO publicity must have got 'im.

Here's the link from the Wayback Machine, if anyone is interested.

He did take it down already. I’m guessing HBO called him and weren’t too happy.

Here’s the archived version.

#### yes GRRM, don't let them turn this into another S7/8 Game of Thrones.

This will be better because 1) It's a finished story, and 2) It's limited to 4 seasons. I doubt GoT would have been 8 seasons if not for the attempt to give GRRM some runway. Turns out there's never enough runway, but hindsight is 20/20 and all.

GRRM has nobody to blame but himself for the ending of Game of Thrones, with how glacially slow he writes and how Winds is *still* not out. The HBO writers would not have had to improvise if he'd just get off his blog and write his book instead. I'm so tired of his complaining, but that's just me.

13 years and 2 months since a Dance With Dragons. Even writing one chapter a month would have created 158 chapters. A Dance with Dragons was only 73 chapters and there is zero reason both books should not be done by now. I think he has no idea how to write himself out of knot he made by not having the 5 year time skip.

So much this. I'm glad I'm not the only one on here who thinks this.

GRRM seems like a bit of a troll himself. I'm sure he's witnessed the way HBO got torn apart and has apprehensions about whatever he is planning to put out. It's always easier to begin a story than tie up all the loose ends.

GRRM is also 75 and doesn't take care of himself. Maybe he's planning on releasing the book posthumously to avoid the backlash.

Just finished season 2. Kind of a drag really, not doing much at all to flesh these characters out.

I actually thought the characters were fleshed out fairly well in S2 as we learned more about them. The main problem was nothing was going on.

The great Jon Snow would describe it as children squabbling amongst themselves.
