I feel like if you're constantly in the middle lane, cruising along, space ahead, never passing or coming up on anyone, you should probably be in the right lane.

You guys all need to go into the mental health thread and read all the posts. Some people are in really bad places here.
I've definitely chilled a lot.

Nope, they can't take the massive gap in front or behind you, they need to be where your car is

Maybe on a highway but in a city on something like Stoney the right lane is really should be for people just entering and people leaving the road. If the right most lane had all the cars who weren’t actively passing someone it would impede on and off movements earlier.

That isn’t “passing.”

Taking a full minute to pass someone is a bit excessive and inconsiderate. Probably a poop or get off the pot scenario in that case.
Although, it sounds like we have different driving experiences. I'm a fairly aware driver and still it isn't that rare to have a vehicle overtake me at excessive speeding to the point I didn't notice them 10 seconds ago when I checked the lane.
I feel I have a pretty good measure on being a courteous driver and understanding contextual situations, but placating the a##hole hasn't generally been the right response. If I'm passing a driver going 120 to overtake a 115 and you come up on me halfway through you're just going to have to suck it up, buttercup.

The amount of drivers trying to merge onto Deerfoot or Stoney at 60 km/h because they're too afraid to push their foot down is too damn high

Drivers' gap control is getting noticeably worse, which just adds to traffic chaos.

What annoys me is when someone is passing a Semi-Truck but doing so very, very gradually.
You want to get in front of the truck, I understand that, regardless of their speed I dont like being behind trucks because I cant see anything up ahead.
But then go around them, punch the gas for a few seconds, pass them, and then resume your normal speed.
Just get on with it. You dont want to be beside the big truck any more than you want to be behind it.

That’s fine, because the difference between passing them at 125 vs 120 is a matter of a few seconds.
I feel like people are either terrible drivers or just ignored the whole “sitting beside someone for a whole minute trying to pass at 1km/hr faster” thing, because no half decent driver things that’s safe or OK.

Ugh...drives me nuts too.
Just punch it! Pass it! And then carry on!
Trust me, you're not going to offend them unless you pass them, get in front of them and start going slower than them. Don't do that.
Semi-Trucks are considerable Traffic obstacles, but it should be more or less Universally understood that theres really not a lot they can do about that.
So pass them safely and go about your day.
Truer words man...'never loiter around a semi.'

Tractor trailer tire vs any passenger vehicle is going to be a bad day. A lot safer to get by and resume your speed once you give the semi lots of space.
People that pass and immediately cut in front of any vehicle towing something, also rgmg

That's what is funny about the driving gear grinders. I'm constantly "oh ya, that's my wife". If she is driving, I just stare at my phone and not look up because I am going to get in a fight. Thing is she grew up outside of Manhattan and drives there super aggressive and fitting for the place, but comes to Calgary and its 96 yr old granny.

People are stupid and suck at driving. Most are completely clueless on even the littlest things let alone how to drive and merge onto a highway.
The latest trend I see in Vancouver is people waiting for everyone approaching a 4 way stop to come to a stop before they go into the intersection. Of course this always causes issues. The other is people stopping in the middle of any intersection the moment another car approaches or moves. I do not need to wait for you to be completely clear to start moving especially if I am going in a different direction than you. It's not like the car will get there instantaneously and hit you.
Don't get me started on pedestrians not crossing when you come to a stop. You are not helping anything by not doing what you are supposed to be doing. All it does is cause confusion especially if another car pulls up in the meantime.

The 401 past Kingston, I think, to Quebec is two lanes in each direction, and it is maddening, because semis will pass semis, as agonizingly slowly as possible, and you can't do anything but wait.
