The people who are in Calgary who shout "let's go oilers" at any public function.

It's the same people who yell 'fore!' as they drive by a golf course. Small minds, with a small town mentality, thinking they are doing something clever and unique.

Those types of people are everywhere unfortunately, but for some reason, Oiler Nation has a very, very large number of them.

I hope that soon we can look at people wearing Oilers gear with the same pity that we did 10 years ago. What a pitiful group of losers.

I never pitied them. Not once. Even when their team was terrible they were the most entitled fans I ever saw.

Such a disillusioned fan base. I used to play hockey with a guy who was a die-hard Oiler fan and he was sure they were one good winning streak away from turning the corner and being the envy of the league. This was well before their 10 year playoff drought ended. He wore the same Oilers hat everywhere for at least 5 years. He showed up to hockey wearing the same Oilers t-shirt. He played pickup hockey in an Oilers jersey and socks, he even bought Oilers colored pants, helmet and gloves. He thought he looked good and smart because of his kit.

He was sure to mock me when I wore Flames socks because the Flames suck... at that time the Flames always owned the Oilers and I would just say "You mean the Calgary Flames that just beat your team?" He had excuses. Always excuses followed with blind optimism about them being the next greatest thing. I don't know what happened to him. He further lost his sanity and blocked everyone who wasn't an Oiler fan on social media after he was told to find somewhere else to play hockey.

He was a bit extreme but so much like most other Oiler fans. They're just no good. He was the worst no good.

Oiler fans are only surpassed by Saskatchewan Roughrider fans for thinking that people care about hockey and their favourite team year round, in any social setting.
