Not all offer sheet situations make sense.

It would take a pretty significant offer, for NJD not to match - an offer that would include significant picks. And - for the Flames specifically - their 1st (if it were made available) is expected to be a top 5 pick.

Mercer isn't a top line C, so you don't give up a top 5 pick to get him.

I was with you until this part. I don't think the motivation comes from the want to ruin things for others.That said, I don't know that for sure, but I doubt you do either. Sure seems like a subtle way to take a shot at Zary's-Mustache though.

I have nothing against Sec and I'm not trying to police which information he's posting, but whenever people here tried to disagree, or question how many rumors turn out to be true they get called for ruining the fun, or wanting the attention for themselves. It does get a bit repative though, so I see why the overwhelming majority of posters feel the need to show their support to the cp-insiders.

Personally, I liked it when posters like Sec, dis, and royal provided context to the way the Flames conduct their business. What they're looking for for player X, or why they chose to go after player Y in a particular trade. As far as breaking trades, and major moves I prefer to wait for Friedman, or the other insiders before getting my hopes up, but that's me, and rumors are a part of the fun, especially during a rebuild.

What a disaster it would be, after all his injury issues the last two seasons, for Pelletier to miss any of camp or the season because he can't come to terms with the Flames on a new deal.

I seem to recall someone saying our 2nd has conditions on it as well, but I don't see any. So, theoretically, if we could convince him to sign at the max 2nd round pick compensation level, we could. $4,580,917 / AAV is that limit.

The devils have $4,976,103 though, so theoretically they can and would match that. They don't need to sign anyone else to fill out their roster, and IMO they need mercer in their mid lineup more than adding elsewhere.

We can't make an offer in the 1st round pick range anyways because of the conditions on our pick for next year. But the point stands, it would also be stupid.

I know, that's why I said 'if we made it available', meaning that the Flames could make a deal with Montreal to free up the pick.

But it is a moot argument, because it would be insanity to use that 1st to pay up for Mercer.

The Flames' first and third round picks are tied up in conditions, and the Devils would match anything in the second round range.

I wonder if there’s a way Bingo or his IT counterpart can code it in a way that those posters who do nothing but stir the #### pot when it comes to rumours can be reverse “blocked” meaning they don’t see posts from certain individuals and therefor have no idea what’s going on

Alternatively just restrict access to this thread and or perma ban works too I suppose.

No updates today, most of the team is back in town though.
I’m told players had a little together today to celebrate Johnny, most if not all will be going to his funeral next week.
