Probably the same thing the 'the breakdown's or whoever was talking about months and said he'd report on in the fall if nobody else did, or whatever the situation was

Unwanted pregnancies also tend to become excellent customers for privately run prisons ~20 years down the road. Who says conservatives don't care about sustainability!

The Breakdown didn't disclose the issue but passed it on to media. Following that there was a flurry of media questions to Smith and others about Oilers tickets, but that trail died out. I assumed that was the issue being raised, but it was a nothing burger relative to the drama being hinted at on Twitter, even now. I guess we will see....

Treating STD's, always good for keeping healthcare costs down...though I guess they could switch to using natural cures?

I get that hyperbole = clicks and all that, but I don't think that it is in their (the Breakdown guys) long-term best interest to have this end up being underwhelming. Or at least I hope so.
Assuming they are about to expose a bunch of corruption within the UCP, the larger question is, will anybody care? If a UCP voter wasn't deterred prior to the election with all of the red flags waving, and would still vote UCP again (according to current approval ratings), then the only people who would be upset about this is people would would never vote UCP anyway.
Remember, this isn't the old PCs and Alison Redford. The UCP can and will get away with far worse than what she got hung out to dry for.

A closed door meeting with UCP faithful, where electronic devices are check for by security at the door, has to be a really bad sign, for any conservatives who are left in the party.
My guess is that a good chunk of UCP ministers have been holding their nose and keeping their mouth shut since the election of Kenney, but now things have hit a point where they want a wild rose purge.
The only way that works is if the bombshell is big enough to sway wild rose supporters away from Smith. It should be an interesting leadership review.

Alright. Do we have any welders on CP?
Can we weld the doors shut from the outside? This might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
Get your rig there ASAP, get those doors welded shut...we'll crowdfund your Bail, we promise!
GO! GO! GO!

No one has phones on the inside, so who's going to call for help when they can't get out? We would bail be required if no one ever knows about the crime?

You're far more optimistic than I am; I honestly don't believe that the PCs of old who still voted UCP last election give a single, solitary #### about the wackadoodle nonsense the Wild Rosers believe in. They care more about being in power than they do about governing responsibly.

The trouble is, the UCP is now run by Wildrosers and Take Back Alberta. If there is to be a purge by any moderate, progressive conservatives (if there are any left), they’ll have to purge themselves.
And actually… 6 seats will take away the majority. Are there 6 “PC moderates” that have the guts to stick it to the UCP?
Dare to dream, Arnold.

Or is the way the party is structured it’s actually going to end up with a shift further to the right.

It's amazing watching many of my conservative family and friends spin doctor the #### out of what the UCP currently is to justify voting for them. When you tell them this isn't the PC party anymore, they get very mad at you and resort to 'whataboutism' with the NDP, or metaphorically put their fingers in the ears and run away.

It is guaranteed. The only hope is that some moderate MLAs, and eventually some voters, finally realize that the UCP has overdone it. Their trusty blue sign doesn’t represent what it once did.

What I hear from them is "this is the way successful businesses operate, sometimes you have to bend the rules for progress"

Ideally someone like Nenshi would run for leadership and cause a huge upswing of membership from the center to take back the party.
I don’t think that person exists in Alberta politics.
