Yes you can. You just have 'McMahon's crew' start gravitating towards McMahon as a stable leader. And there's plenty to choose from. No new talent needed. There's enough there to work with for fans to get the point.

Bringing in Shane McMahon as an on screen character would be so stupid and so desperate.
I think there is potentially some behind the scenes value for TK that he could bring.
But honestly I think bringing him in on-screen would be a huge mistake, like WCW bringing in Vince Russo as an on screen character level of mistake.

You could create buzz by having ex-WWE guys band together but not actually say it out loud. They could also address Shane in reference only. And boy, would it tease the crowd.
I mean this basically worked for the NWO. And before anyone says the NWO killed WCW, the first two years of the NWO is also what almost crippled the WWE because it was so damn popular.

I don't think the buzz a McMahon would bring is good buzz. It gets you a short term pop but think it's the opposite of the way AEW should be going. Get back to focusing on young talent and great match quality, and less about ex WWE guys.
Plus AEW as kind of done this before. It's kind of what BCC was supposed to be initially...
Danielson, Moxley, Cesaro, Regal.
IMO though that was a bit of a mess from day 1 and didn't make a ton of sense.
They also tried a bit of a TNA invasion angle already with Callis but it kind of fell flat.
In the end I think NWO worked because Hall and Nash debuted as "The Outsiders" from WWE - so it was believable from that perspective - and then you had the Hogan heel turn which is probably still the biggest heel turn in wrestling history.
I think AEW could have done this angle more if they had built a group of Ex-WWE guys that were all debuting around the same time, and that could have made sense. Like when Danielson/Cole & Undisputed Era and some of the others debuted around the same time you probably could have built a heel invasion faction around them. That probably would have made sense.
Like if you're planning an invasion angle right now...why wouldn't you have Ricochet debut as part of that. Mox is actually the ex-WWE guy on the roster right now that might make the least sense to try to attach the label of "WWE Guy" to.

Also how can Mox be an "Outsider" when he's been featured more on television and more title runs than anyone in the company. What exactly would be be rebelling against? Maybe they plan on aligning him with a bunch of guys from New Japan and CMLL? To go up against the AEW originals...
Don't forget they also tried an invasion angle with Saraya, Soho, and Storm in the Outcasts. Which was a failure, and only Storm managed to break out by finding a new gimmick and distancing herself from the other two.

The NWO was awesome, it launched a period of what? 82 week dominance over WWE.
But then everyone was put in the NWO. They had the NWO beat everyone up, and you never saw the faces get their revenge, well when they did the faces were made to look like complete doofuses.
I'm not interested in invasion angles, since the NWO they've been horribly done.
I'm also not a big fan of Shane O'mac.
Maybe they could dress Shane up as Dr Claw and we only see his left arm.

I think where I started really hating Shane was when he was pummelling actual workers with awful offence, or getting thrown off the top of the jumbo tron, or diving off of the top of a cage.

Oh for a non-wrestler Shane was more then fine. He could do the neat high spots and the insane bump without killing himself. That's more then most and the Mean Street Posse were funny.

I just got an email from Ticketmaster saying select tickets are on sale for 30% off the Calgary and Edmonton shows using the code 'LABOUR'.

Loved Bash in Berlin. Those European crowds are amazing. Thought all five matches were solid to great, albeit predictable. I would love to see a shocking win one of these days... but it's harder to pull them off with long term storylines. Having Owens go over Rhodes doesn't make a ton of sense, but wish it would happen once in a while. The women's match was a little sloppy, but I think Jade is improving in the ring each match.
Good to see Punk making it through another match without getting hurt. Having that limited schedule is beneficial to talent of his age. I think us fans are more used to that part time schedule, it helps add to the "big fight feel" when they're not wrestling every week.

I don't mind that these PLEs are tight with only 5 matches and have been giving matches lots of time.
But they feel 1 match too short to me, feels like it should be 6 matches, 30 minute window for each match and the PPV runs 3-3:30 long.
Seems weird to me that these PLEs are sometimes technically shorter than a normal episode of Raw.

I agree. I think I'm spoiled (or tainted) by AEW. I just can't get into the flow of a WWE PLE with all the ads, promos and breaks between matches. There's just too much downtime for me and fast forwarding on a Chromecast is painful. That being said, it usually takes me 2 nights to watch an AEW PPV. It's almost the other end of the spectrum, but it also costs a lot more. Some sort of middle ground (on price and runtime) would probably be my sweet spot.

After mentioning Calgary last night on RAW, I have a feeling Lyra Valkyria and Zelina Vega will be recruiting Natalya for assistance - probably the easiest bet to make going into next week!

100% - and possibly the least exciting surprise ever.
Love Nattie but she's not really an exciting appearance at this point.

Also Thanks for sharing this - had been watching to see if ticket prices dropped and would have completely missed this if not for your post.
