Shocking. Devastating. Painful. Brutal.

Those are the only words I can offer.

RIP Johnny and Matty. You will be missed.

Heartfelt condolences to the entire Gaudreau clan. They are great people and simply do not deserve this. To happen on their sister's wedding weekend is unimaginable. Life can be utterly cruel at times.

Brutal. His goal against Dallas in OT is probably my favourite hockey play I’ve seen live

I guess in hindsight, it was good that Johnny left Calgary and was able to spend his last remaining years closer to family. This incident certainly provides a whole new lens to me when observing an athlete make a decision.

####. I went to bed hoping this wouldn’t be true when I woke up.

RIP. I feel so horrible for that entire family, so angry at drunk drivers, and just so sad as someone who felt like he was growing up alongside him and cheering him on.

100%

None of us are promised another day on this earth.

We all need to prioritize doing what is best for our own mental health and our loved ones / families.

For more than 1/5 of our clubs history, this was our best player on ice. Transformative talent that really led the wave of skill players out of the low scoring dead puck era. The model of a smaller skill player. Potentially the most elusive skater of all time, able to shirk defenders and find open ice at will. Was the driving force behind one the best statistical lines in NHL history. One half of a dynamic duo better than batman and Robin.

Inspired countless smaller hockey players to keep pursuing their dreams. Helped thrust the us hockey program to the top of the heap and one of the best examples of the benefits of the ncaa track to the nhl.

Incredible, once in a lifetime hockey talent.

This is the second death of an active player for the BJs. Goaltender Matīss Kivlenieks died 3 years ago from an errant fireworks mortar shell that fatally struck him in the chest.

Such a terrible tragedy. My thoughts are with the family.

Johnny is the favourite player for how many young people in this city? He is an icon for those young and old.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
