Hiked Ha Ling today, and there were snow drifts above my knee in places near the top. Pretty awesome hike today. I only saw a total of 6 other hikers on the entire round trip! I didn't think that was possible on a hike as popular as Ha Ling.

Nice dark beer weather

Just in time, I was getting tired of lighter brews

Ah, the sweet smell of dust after a few months of being turned off.

Dang it! Been completely slammed all day...finally home and aprés dinner, was about to go on a nice rain walk I've been wanting to do, and the sun is out now. Hope the other pluviophiles here got to enjoy it anyway! A solid rain day - especially the non-deadly/non hail variety - is rare in these parts.

I got to go on a "nice rain walk" home from work and the wind folded my umbrella in half.

Haha worst, yeah Calgary can be such a windy place. I ordered one off Amazon that's $30, it makes such a difference. Those generic no-name brand $15 ones just don't cut it here, sadly.

Yeah there was nothing nice about the weather yesterday. Obviously a cooler / rainy day was welcome but we can do without the gale force winds.

18 months or so for Concourse B repairs at YYC. Damage is extensive, but my understanding is that insurance payouts are to be higher than expected. The roof is destroyed.

Are these going to just be repairs, or renos/updates as well?

This storm is trending to be the biggest in Canadian History.

I know one large insurance company has set initial reserves of $550 million.

For reference their total pay out in Fort McMurray fires was $350 million

You sure about that? I heard the fort mcmurray fires were in the 5 billion dollar range.

https://www.reuters.com/article/cana...idINL8N1904HK/

Here it says they were expected to pay 4 billion. 350 million seems way too low for the amount of structures that were burnt.

This is the nicest Labor Day weekend weather wise i can ever remember.

Hell it was only 6? years ago it was snowing and as miserable as fall weather can get.

Im sitting lakeside and definitely way too warm to be in the sun directly but with the table umbrella its perfect....thats usually a July thing.

I remember almost every first day of school being miserable, the weather would just turn on Labour Day weekend.

I can remember a few Labour Day Classics in the 90s where we just roasted in the sun in 30+ degree days. The weather can really go either way on Labour Day weekend in Calgary.

But considering the late start to summer this year, I'd say we deserve this.
