So. Every year I usually choose a Flame that is 'My Boy' and 'My goat.'

Obviously with the radical turnover its tough to choose at the moment, and I try not to go too obvious, but sometimes its hard.

Last year 'My Boy' was none other than Blake Scoreman and he did not disappoint.

My 'goat' for his time, was Lindholm. Because I dont care for sulks who drag ass.

So now I have to think about who I want for this year? I cant pick Coleman again, thats too obvious, and the year before that it was Tanev. So I'll wait a bit.

But the goat? He shows himself over time. Always does.

It’s tough but of this current batch of Flames:

Favourites: Backlund, Pospisil, Huberdeau

Least Favourites: Kadri, Weegar, Duehr

Bahl also faced the toughest competition after Marino, though in only 17 mins a night, and with underwhelming Corsi numbers.

That's why I actually think he'd be a better fit on Andersson's pairing while Bean would work better with one of Pachal, or Solovyov. Do you think he starts the season in the top4? Or on the 3rd pairing?

Personally I'd have him with Andersson or Weegar, my guess is something like this:

Weegar - Miromanov: Worked well last year and think you have to start with it again.
Bahl - Andersson: Think Andersson does better with a calming defensive presence on his pairing.
Bean - Pachal: If Bean truly is the Kylington replacement then think he fits here with Pachal.

It's an opinion so, OK. But what a weird list. I get Duehr had a disappointing year so he was my pick (reluctantly - there's no one I really dislike).

You are probably the first person I've heard say they dislike Weegar (Kadri I kinda get because he has a bit of an abrasive personna and his dogging it two seasons ago maybe is still in some peoples' memories). But Kadri turn his game around big time last year, and Weegar was arguably the Flames best Dman.

Pre-season is an odd time to make these picks, for sure. Maybe if we could see their off-season habits.

Is it fair to dislike a player because their contract sucks?

Sure. It's certainly something to factor in when considering whether or not you like a certain player.

I dont see why not.

Other than the fact that contracts on this team hardly matter at the moment.

Its not like we're cap-crunched or anything.

Contracts aside, the three players I mentioned just plain sucked.
