I see the current narrative coming out of EDM is that Holloway looked really unhappy at the Blues press conference was him having huge regrets about signing the offer sheet, and really wished he was still in EDM, as he expected them to match the offer.

He seems 100x more happy than when he was drafted.

I have a feeling they're both going to pop, in a good way with the Blues this year.

They'll have to, if they're going to earn even half the money the Blues are giving them.

I think that they have already earned their way!

Why, because the Oilers suffer? I admit, that would matter if Flames fans were paying their salary. Don't know why the Blues would consider that a return on their investment.

The blues got their rights by paying a premium. If they work out I am sure they will extend for fair cap hits.

Assuming it’s true I’d think it would be mostly be about the organization didn’t value you like you thought they did and all the talk of you being part of the team was just manipulative to get you to sign for less rather than regretting signing the offer sheet.

Boarderline NHL players can’t give up a million per season.

He looks a lot happier in that Blues video than he did in his draft video.

Staples doesn't buy it ... Oilers not "weird" in Holloway negotiations.

As for Holloway’s assertion that Edmonton’s negotiating stance with him was “weird,” I don’t buy it in the least. It was no doubt Holloway’s subjective experience, but I don’t see it as objectively fair or accurate

LOL.... you dont report/see anything as objective, fair, nor accurate David, so this is literally zero surprise.

Truly not a bigger hack in hockey "journalism".

Does he not understand? Like...its not like its Holloway in there himself hammering out the details...thats his Agent.

Who likely has done this many times (I dont know who his agent is) and then came back and told Holloway that the Oilers negotiating process was unusual.

Ah, dont forget the E=NG. This is weird for the rest of the league, in Edmonton this is totally normal. For Staples this is just another normal day. The only weird thing to Staples is why he didnt stay for less money.

The irony is dripping. Staples is the least objective person in hockey.

David Staples is really the worst writer anywhere for really anything. Complete lack of education, knowledge and any sense of objectivity. The stuff he writes about the Oilers is just inaccurate garbage.

He isn’t an Oilers Beat writer, more of the Oilers fluffer. Complete embarrassment even at Oiler standards.

The sad thing is, there are quite a few equally bad journalists out there. You just don't notice them because there isn't a daily score sheet to show how many things they get wrong.

There aren’t journalists who just pump their teams tires like Staples does. He has zero sense of reality, completely clueless.

There are, but they're covering politics.
