Ugh! Thats just the worst! Just the worst!

I am a Calgary Flames fan! When I want to be positive I'll let you know, but in the meantime I want to wallow in my misery!

Misery is my comfortable, happy, safe place! Don't try and take me out of it! I shall resist!!!

Analyzing more deeply, the play calling sounds solid but the goal call on that GWG clip was a little underwhelming. Hopefully on future game deciding plays he can elevate his intensity more to give gravity to the moment.

Very small sample size though and I'm sure he will bring his best to the role.

Speaking from experience, it is unbelievably difficult to sound decent doing pxp on pre-recorded highlights. Even then, he sounded fine to me. I'm excited to see what he can do.

That thought occurred to me as well.

On a live play the excitement likely comes more organically.

Yeah, especially when the building is full and going crazy.

I said this before when it happened, but was listening to a Flames game on Tune In. The game was in San Jose and I happened to be in San Fran so maybe because of the geofencing I was getting no commercials, just Wills and Mikkelson on hot mikes the entire game. Wills was far more realistic in some of his off air comments, never crude or inappropriate but certainly critical at points. Which was kind of refreshing honestly.
He has clearly been told by management that he is not to criticize the organization.

Radio and TV content would be way more interesting if there was no water carrying mandates.

It would be like CP live!

Hearing the latest way they can construe subpar circumstances or performances as a silver lining has become unequivocally mind-numbing.

If analysis was fair game it would also give optimistic takes from the pundits more meaning.

He did some PBP of past clips to show off what we can expect.
Not bad. Missed a few names but he should learn the Flames pretty fast. One thing about Ball, he knew every name and number from the other team, too.

Hook it to my vein!

John Oliver could guest host on special editions with the latest scoop of no goodness. Would be the easiest gig of his career with the amount of content that lawl factory pumps out.

Most professional commentators do.

They deserve credit, they do a lot of prep for every game

Wills is just a boring voice, he has no emotion. He is probably better off calling baseball.

This is why I like the Barnburner Podcasts. Those guys are pretty good at agreeing with out thoughts and reactions. It's sort of pleasing, even when it's negative.

This is it for me. I find his tone totally flat in exciting moments to the point where it’s kind of off putting. Don’t even know if there’s a word for it, it’s like nothing changes outside the volume of his voice. I like the PBP/colour style that sounds excited/interested/passionate about what they’re calling so he just doesn’t do it for me at all.

I don’t listen to the radio often so it would have been a bigger deal to me if he got the TV job. But Jon did. And I like Jon’s style the more I hear it.
