Season 1 was always going to be hard to follow, since you had all the heel characters make a face turn. By being unbale to go back that well, you lost some of the dramatic tension. Still, it stayed high quality throughout as we grew to love and cheer for the characters.
I like shows that end and inclined to say leave it alone but 3 seasons is short I suppose.

I agree, that happened maybe a bit too early but it provided for an interesting arc that season.
I thought things were generally strong except for Keeley's subplot which was thoroughly uninteresting and had a few dead ends, probably because it was just there to eat up time.

Not sure how I feel about this. I loved the series and thought it arced perfectly, no need for another season.
OTOH I can't wait for another season

Supposedly Jamie Tartt won't be in Season 4. That would be a huge loss IMO, maybe my favorite character.

Obviously I'll reserve judgment but, thats a loss I think I can stomach.
To me the most annoying character was Keeley. Her I could easily stand to lose. The only problem with that is that while I loathed her as a character, how that character interacted with Rebecca as a sort of Girl Power/Maternal relationship was excellent.
But Keeley on her own? Ugh.
Get that other girl who loved blood! She was great!

Yeah I don't mind losing Tartt. His arc is kind of over and makes sense he would move on to play for a big club somewhere. Pretty easy to write him out, bring in a new young player player.
Agreed Keeley's side story was super annoying and I find her personality pretty grating. But I love me some Juno Temple so I can deal if she's around. I actually liked her better when she was more involved in the story and the team. Her separate marketing thing, very lame.
Personally I had thought it was going to be a 2 season show. 1st season all surface optimism with sort of dark under currents and then a 2nd season of it all crumbling. I didn't mind the 3rd but it definitely felt unplanned to me.

Could work.
The Richmond FC story has kind of run its course.
They can weave in cameos throughout the season (including yours truly).
As long as coach Beard and Ted are at the core of the show.

Well, we can believe again.
Apple TV+ has officially renewed “Ted Lasso” for Season 4, with series lead Jason Sudeikis onboard to return as the titular pun-happy, mustachioed football coach. No other castings are officially confirmed at this time, though it had previously been reported that options had been picked up for Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift.
“As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap,” Sudeikis said in a statement. “In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”
|
Quote:
The show originally debuted in 2020, with the third season airing in 2023. “Ted Lasso” quickly found itself an audience upon its release, perhaps due to the main character’s quest to spread happiness and kindness at a time when the world was deep in the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Ted Lasso” was ultimately nominated for 61 Emmy Awards during its run, winning 13. That includes back to back wins in the best comedy series category, as well as consecutive wins for Sudeikis and Goldstein.

I really want to look forward to Season 4, but Season 3 was really rushed, and they completely ruined the Nate arc, so I'm going to go into it skeptical, but eager.

Mean, frosty Nate needed to be left to cook.
It was resolved rather suddenly. Probably because they thought the show was ending and had to wrap it up.

I love the show but I've always wondered for those who are from overseas, I think that the generally unrealistic portrayal of the English Football ecosystem might take them out of the show a little bit.
For instance, I've been watching the show Running Point (about a fake NBA-like league) and it was generally enjoyable, but near the end of the first season a few things happened that were not realistic which kind of took me out of it. Spoilers for that show here:

I'm a big football fan! Granted, not as fanatical as the English, so there is that, although it is undisputed that Liverpool are the greatest football team, but putting that aside, I've managed my 'suspension of disbelief.'
For instance, going from the Premier League, being relegated, somehow keeping all or most of your PL players and then gaining promotion and simultaneously qualifying for the Champions' League...with the same group of players?
Essentially preposterous. But that doesnt make for good TV.
Some of the Soccer scenes are...well most of them are complete nonsense, but I appreciated that they tried. Soccer isn't as filmographic as sports like football or baseball where one play makes all the difference.
I mean, the whole show is about a guy who doesn't know what he's doing but succeeding at it anyways.
I love the show. The on-field play bits and table rankings? Yeah. They're unrealistic, but its just a show. I appreciate that they tried.
They can fire Keely into the Sun though. Bring in her assistant. I liked her! She liked blood and violence!
