This show is the best.

All the characters were amazing, and the actors played them perfectly. Loved the they just ended it, instead of milking the franchise for dragged out seasons.

If I were to nitpick, they managed to portray a Premier League/Championship club as a smalltown semi pro outfit. Like, players were alone in the medical room, there's only one kit man, the Owner (a billionaire) just pops in and out of the locker room/coach's office and her whole day is preoccupied with day-to-day club dealings, etc. Where are the ARMY of doctors, equipment managers, physios, support staff, sales, customer service, security, etc. That was kinda LOL, but at its core, the show isn't about football, it's about the relationships between the people associated with the club. So I forgive them for this part. Some of the actual football stuff was cringe (like McAdoo putting the ball through the net, or Dani killing a greyhound), but again, it's a nitpick.

Gun to my head and someone said I had to pick top-3 favorite characters, I'd probably say Coach Beard, Ted, and Sam.

Might be getting a season 4:

https://deadline.com/2024/08/ted-las...am-1236049653/

Quote:
Ted Lasso fans, this is not a drill. In a major step toward the long-awaited fourth season of Apple TV+’s hugely popular soccer comedy, the series’ studio Warner Bros. Television has picked up the options on the three original cast members who had been contracted under the aegis of the UK acting union Equity, sources tell Deadline. They are Hannah Waddingham, who plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Walton, Brett Goldstein, who plays hardman Roy Kent and Jeremy Swift, who plays Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins.

After securing the trio, the studio is expected to start reaching out to Ted Lasso cast members with SAG-AFTRA contracts whose options had expired, so they will need to make new deals, we hear. In addition to co-creators/executive producers Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), the list is believed to include Juno Temple (Keeley Jones). It is unclear creatively which other Ted Lasso stars may be approached about Season 4; the cast have all said repeatedly that they would be happy to reprise their roles if an opportunity arises.

Season 3 was such a drop in quality from the first two seasons that I honestly might just pass on Season 4 if it ever comes to fruition.

The episode set in Amsterdam was one of my favorites in the entire series.

Oh! That was great!

Now, dont quote me on this, because it was a long time ago but my understanding is that that episode was a 'filler.'

So 'Coach Beard' is one of the Principle writers and the studio wanted another episode so...he just wrote a 'Coach Beard' episode.

And it was great!

Makes sense. Has been perpetually in the top 3 Apple TV shows since ending and must drive like 3/4s of their subscriptions. They are going to milk this until Roy Kent is in a nursing home.

Season 1 is exceptional. Seasons 2 and 3 are enjoyable but fall into the issue a lot of ensemble shows do, trying to have a sub plot for every supporting character instead of sticking to a main storyline.

Yeah part of me thinks they should just leave things alone and let the series end on a high note. The writers are going to have to be very creative to make the 4th season work.

Cant be hard, they left so many open ends on so many stories they can go whichever way they want with it. .

See...I didn't really feel that. I felt like every story had an arc that was well supported and I feel they addressed that at the end with the title of Trent's book.

Ted Lasso: "I'd change the Title. Its not about me. It never was."

He wasn't just talking about Trent Crimm's book, it was essentially a metaphor for the show as a whole.

Ted is the calm centre of the Universe amongst a violent maelstrom of chaos, but he is the rock, he is the immovable object. All things move around him.

He is essentially the foil for all other characters to operate off of.

It wasn't about Ted, it was about the effect Ted had on all of those around him. His friends, enemies, bosses, players, etc.
