If it was I bet it had to do with Ryan Johanson before they decided to just write his contract off

The disparity in remaining contract length would have had to mean Calgary was adding beaucoup sweeteners though. Can’t imagine the FO would want to lose a retention slot for like 8 years.

Outside of Johansen… what’s the worst contract on the Flyer’s roster? Would have to imagine that would be involved. It’s not as bad of a contract but maybe Couturier? Seemed like there was a lot of tension with him and the coach/management last year. Calgary would still have to add in that scenario I imagine. Would also fit organizationally for the flames (excess of wingers but short on centres).

Couturier if he is as broken as he appears to be. Otherwise, probably Risto, but even that is not so bad anymore (but still bad)

I would do Couts for Huby and add a 2nd.
Centreman...smaller cap hit...shorter contract...cheaper buy-out
Maybe him and Torts get toxic and they need to move him. One can dream!

Maybe Philly saw we had many high draft picks and prospects and asked for several of them so Conroy hung up. That's really the only way of unloading that contract.
